What is the Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers?

It is a description of the wondrous scene unfolding in the sky when the celestial maiden sees the Buddha's opening sermon, guiding the celestial maiden to hasten to the site where Rudraksha was preaching the sutra.

When the celestial maiden arrived at the place where Rudraksha was delivering his sermon, the Buddha happened to see purple clouds drifting in from the eastern world, and saw that among the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas present, Vimalakirti, one of his favorite disciples, was not present, so he sent the celestial maiden to the east to see what was going on.

The celestial maiden followed the direction of the purple clouds and came to the eastern world, where Vimalakirti, a disciple of the Buddha, was making an altar of his own, preaching sutras and giving teachings, surrounded by a number of Buddhists, among whom there was also another disciple of the Buddha, Shariputra.

The celestial maiden, according to the Buddha's command, carried a basket of flowers and danced in the sky above, scattering flowers all over the sky, magnificently disturbed, rippling color glittering, and when all the people lifted up their eyes to watch, flowers fell down one after another, among which the Shariputra Buddha's body was covered with flowers.

The heavenly maiden said in the air, "If the habit is not yet finished, the flower will be on the body; if the habit is finished, the flower will not be on the body.

Shelly Buddha heard this and felt that he was indeed not Taoist enough, so he left the scene and went to the West to listen to the Buddha's sermon.

Vimalakirti also y realized, no longer self-legislation altar, more and more hard to study, respect for the Buddha, and later have a great refinement!

Pangu had two sons and a daughter. After he opened up the sky and opened up the earth, he told his eldest son to manage the heavenly affairs, known as the Jade Emperor; told his second son to manage the earthly affairs, known as the Yellow Emperor; told his daughter to manage the hundred flowers, known as the God of Flowers.

Pangu opened up the sky too hard, hurt the organs, he was dying, called his daughter to the front, took out a packet of seeds, said: "This is a packet of flower seeds, to you. You have to go west twenty-two thousand two hundred and twenty-two miles, where there is a mountain of pure earth, you can take a load of pure earth, spread in the sky stone, planted in the pure earth of the seeds of these flowers. Then thou shalt go eastward forty-four thousand four hundred and forty-four miles, and where the sun bathes, there is a pool of true water, which does not evaporate, and thou mayest take a quart of true water, and water the seed of the hundred flowers, and the seed of the hundred flowers will sprout and come forth. Then thou shalt go southward sixty-six thousand six hundred and sixty-six miles, where there is a pool of good water; thou mayest take a quart of the good water, and spray it upon the seedling of the flower, and the seedling of the flower bringeth forth its bones. Then thou shalt go northward eighty-eight thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight miles, where there is a pool of beautiful water; thou shalt take a quart of beautiful water, and nourish the bones of the flowers, so that a hundred different kinds of flowers will blossom. With these flowers thou shalt garnish heaven for thy elder brother, and add beauty to thy second brother's kingdom." When Pangu finished speaking, he died, and his body then transformed into a mountain of Pangu.

The God of Flowers, as his father had instructed him, traveled twenty-two thousand two hundred and twenty-two miles to the west, took a quart of pure earth, spread it out on the celestial rock, and sowed the seeds of a hundred flowers. To the east, south and north he took water from the three pools of truth, goodness and beauty, and carefully nurtured the flowers. Sure enough, a hundred flowers blossomed and looked great. She reported happily to the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor then came along with his own sister to view the hundred flowers, and he said happily, "My sister went out of her way to raise a hundred flowers, and used them to beautify the Heavenly Court, so won't the Heavenly Court become a garden?"

The God of Flowers said, "In the beginning, when the Father King opened up the heaven and earth, he told you to control the nine heavens, and told the Second Brother to control the nine states, and told me to raise a hundred flowers for you to embellish the Heavenly Court, and to add beauty to the rivers and mountains for the Second Brother. Now that I have bred out the hundred flowers, can brother help me to spread these hundred flowers to the earth?"

The Jade Emperor agreed, and immediately summoned a hundred nymphs and said to them, "I appoint you as the Hundred Flower Fairies, under the control of the Flower God. You may pick flowers as you like; those who pick peonies are peony fairies, and those who pick lotus flowers are lotus fairies. Scatter the flowers you have picked on earth."

Hearing this, the hundred flower fairies, with baskets in their hands, traveled through the garden, each picking their favorite flowers. In a few moments, the baskets were filled to overflowing. Then, with one hand on the basket, they grabbed the flowers and scattered them to the earth.

The heavenly maidens scattered the flowers, drifting down to the nine states and taking root on the ground.
