Is Cole's coaching level overrated?

Not as composed as Bobo, but very creative. The Warriors would never have been as strong without Kerr.

There are several ways to evaluate coaches.

1. Record with the team

The current coach is just Popovich, but considering he's only been coaching for 5 years, Kerr likely doesn't have a record. (I've heard Lou's coaching is going to the Clippers, so maybe there's a chance)

2. Tactical Design

Coaches can't be evaluated outside of his coaching staff, and Kerr's five death tactics are almost unprecedented. The use of green and curry completely upends tradition, and while both are very powerful, they are not the height of the Warriors.

3. On-the-spot response

On-the-spot is Kerr's weakness. He sometimes had too much faith in the death of the small five, leading to interior explosions or not, and sometimes the team's momentum disappeared. For a while, he used the same five-man death clock, so the team suffered a lot. Curry fans also have confidence. While Curry is a top-five superstar in this league and one of the top-three shooters of all time, his excessive ball-less running sometimes puts him in bad situations against intense physical matchups, his shooting is inconsistent and he loses. But Kerr has often been reluctant to change Curry, a point for which fans have been criticized. (System Reddick)

4. Team Relationships

As a member of the dynastic Bulls, Kerr served as an assistant coach with the Spurs. It certainly gave him a lot of experience coordinating between players and controlling their emotions. When Curry complained a little bit because he had too much of the ball and when Kerr argued with Green, Kerr wasn't instructed by the media to let things get fat, he did all the internal contradictions and digesting. Despite failing to win this season, that's as far as it goes when the team is injured.

If winning championships is the standard for coaching excellence, then Kerr ranks second behind Bobo on the current 30-team list.

But Bobo has been coaching for 23 years, and Kerr has only been on the job for five. Kerr has 18 years to catch up to Bobo.

If you don't use winning championships as a criterion for coaching level then it's easy to bring in subjective judgment.

But even so, Kerr's ability to convince absolute starter Ichiro to change his role from starting to benching is still a highlight of his coaching. It's not quite the same as Bobo forcing Manu to play 6th man instead of starting. Secondly, Kerr's strict control of Curry's regular season minutes as soon as he took office is even more of a highlight of his coaching level. Few NBA coaches have dared to limit playing time to their team's top starter when healthy.

NBA coaches and players usually the biggest contradiction on these two: one is the arrangement of the first and the bench, and the second is the amount of playing time. A lot of NBA coaches planted this on the last only roll cover themselves to go.
