A home fitness

Protein powder is very common in the fitness crowd, and almost every professional bodybuilder will use it. However, many people confuse protein powder with steroids and think that protein powder is also a drug that can "push" muscles. This statement is obviously wrong. Let's make a comparison. What's the difference between two people drinking protein powder and not exercising but using steroids?

First, the muscle gain speed is different. 1996, American scientists conducted an experiment for 10 weeks, with 43 healthy adult males as subjects. The experiment was divided into four groups, and the steroid injection dose was 600 mg per week. Group A does not exercise but uses steroids, Group B does exercise and uses steroids, Group C only exercises, and Group D does not exercise and does not use steroids. The results showed that group A gained 6.4 kg of muscle (lean body weight), group B gained 1 1.8 kg of muscle, group C gained 3.6 kg of muscle, and there was no obvious change in group D.

That is to say, under the same conditions, people who don't exercise gain muscle faster than those who exercise normally after using steroids. Because protein powder is only a nutritional supplement, it will not accelerate muscle growth during fitness, so two people who drink protein powder and do not use steroids for fitness will gain muscle faster.

Second, the strength of bones, ligaments and tendons is different. Steroids can be called "muscle enhancement artifact", but it can't make muscles, bones, ligaments and tendons achieve the same strength improvement. On the contrary, steroids will affect the biomechanical properties of bones, ligaments and tendons.

Therefore, people who use steroids look strong, but they are more likely to get hurt during strenuous exercise. Because people who drink protein powder belong to normal training, their bones, ligaments and tendons will become stronger accordingly, reducing the risk of injury during exercise.

Third, the limit of muscle gain is different. People who don't exercise but use steroids need to keep using steroids to maintain the muscles they have gained, and the amount of muscles they have gained will soon become a bottleneck. If you want to break through again, you need to increase the use of steroids. On the contrary, people who drink protein powder for fitness have been in a state of muscle gain. Although the speed of muscle growth is a little slow, it is enough to exceed the muscle mass increased by steroids over time.

Fourth, the impact on health is different. Steroids were not developed for fitness, but bodybuilders took a fancy to their role in muscle building before they were widely used. However, the use of steroids will cause some side effects, especially for men's health. On the contrary, the main consumers of whey protein powder on the market at present are fitness enthusiasts. According to the dosage of 1~2 spoons on training day, it is not enough to overload the kidneys. Because of this, steroids are not worth trying from a health point of view.

As can be seen from the above four points, there are essential differences between protein powder and steroids. There is nothing wrong with bodybuilders drinking protein powder to exercise their muscles. Only hard training can have a certain effect. If it's steroids, we have to weigh the benefits and costs. Now, will you still oppose fitness and drinking protein powder?
