Shanghai Theatre Academy is an art college in China that trains drama professionals. Its predecessor was Shanghai Experimental Drama School. It was founded on June 1 945+February1by Li Jianwu, Huang, a famous educator and dramatist, with Mr. Xiong Foxi as the first dean. 1949 10, Shanghai Experimental Theatre School was renamed Shanghai Theatre Academy. During the period of 1952, the national colleges and universities were reorganized, and the drama department of Shandong University Art Department merged with the Shanghai Xingzhi Art School Drama Troupe and was formally established, renamed the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Drama. 1956 was officially named Shanghai Theatre Academy, which is an art college directly under the Ministry of Culture. In April 2000, it was handed over to Shanghai and the Ministry of Culture. In June 2002, the former Shanghai Normal University School of Performing Arts, Shanghai Opera School and Shanghai Dance School were merged into Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Since its establishment, it has trained nearly 10,000 literary and artistic talents, including Zhu, Jiao Huang, Pan Hong, Xi Meijuan, Wang Luoyong, Chen Hong, Li Bingbing and David. Is a representative in the drama performance. Representative writers and directors are: Yu, Sha, and so on. Representative figures of dance design: Zhou, Hu Miaosheng, Han Sheng, Yi Tianfu, etc. In fine arts, there are artists living in the United States: Lu Zhenhuan, Cai Guoqiang and so on. At the same time, the college has also trained the first generation of dramatists from Tibet, Inner Mongolia and other ethnic minorities, which has made important contributions to promoting the cultural undertakings in China.
Drama is the main discipline in our college, and it has been listed as the key discipline in Shanghai since 1999. The education level of doctoral and master's degree students takes drama and drama as two disciplines, and there are more than ten research directions. In addition, there are arts and radio and television arts in postgraduate education.
The college has performance department, drama literature department, stage art department, director department, TV art department, public education department, drama department, dance department and adult education center. The college has three campuses: the headquarters is on Huashan Road, the drama and dance branch and the affiliated drama school are on Lianhua Road, and the affiliated dance school is on Hongqiao Road.
The teaching facilities of the college headquarters located in Huashan Road are perfect, and the experimental theater, black box drama laboratory, new experimental space and small theater are suitable for teaching practice performance and experimental drama rehearsal respectively. The library is rich in drama books, and student apartments, restaurants and gyms provide students with good living conditions.
Lianhua Road Campus is currently the location of the Opera and Dance Branch and the affiliated opera school. Has a high standard of professional practice room and performance viewing hall. The campus layout is reasonable and the facilities are complete.
The Dance School affiliated to Hongqiao Road was established as the current school site with the care and support of the older generation of leaders. The campus is lush with trees, quiet and pleasant environment, complete teaching facilities and spacious and bright classrooms.
The college has established extensive international contacts and established inter-school exchanges and cooperation with more than ten schools and international organizations such as the United States, Britain and Australia. International experts are often invited to give lectures and rehearsals in our college, and professional teachers in our college are often hired to give lectures and visit abroad. * * * Students from more than 50 countries and regions came to our college for study and investigation.
