What if the dog dislocates?

Judging what measures to take depends on the severity.

Joint dislocation refers to a situation in which the joint is subjected to external force or pathological action, resulting in the loss of normal articular surface between bones. Generally, it can be divided into two situations: total dislocation and incomplete dislocation. The longest parts of dogs usually occur in hip joint, patella, elbow joint and shoulder joint.

First, the object: all dogs can happen.

Second, the cause: mostly due to strong direct external forces, but also congenital or developmental abnormalities and other factors.

Third, symptoms:

? 1. Joint deformation: the original uplift and depression are changed.

2. Abnormal fixation: due to joint dislocation and abnormal traction of muscles and ligaments, the joint is fixed in an abnormal position.

3. Joint swelling: When seriously injured, the surrounding soft tissues are damaged, and the joints are bleeding, inflamed, painful and swollen.

4. limb potential changes: such as adduction, bending or unnatural extension.

5. dysfunction: due to joint displacement, dogs will have pain and limp during exercise. However, joint dislocation may not be obvious.

Fourth, processing:

Treatment can be divided into conservative treatment and surgical treatment, and the treatment principles are reduction, fixation and recovery training. In order to reduce the tension and pain of muscles and ligaments, general anesthesia should be used when recovering, and it is also to prevent dogs from struggling because of pain.

1. conservative treatment: for incomplete dislocation or mild total dislocation, conservative treatment can be used. Generally, dogs lie on their side first, and their dislocated limbs are placed on the bed. The method of traction, compression, internal rotation, abduction and abduction is joint reduction. If the reset is correct, the hand can feel and hear the sound. External fixation was performed immediately after reset. Usually choose splint bandage, plastic bandage, external fixator, etc.

2. Surgical treatment: For serious cases, surgical treatment is definitely needed. The location of joint dislocation is different, and the surgical path is also different. By pulling, rotating the affected limb, stretching and pressing the joint, the joint is reset. According to the nature of dislocation, different internal fixation methods are selected. For example, if some ligaments are broken, they should be sutured and fixed if possible, and then fixed externally. Some may be congenital dislocation of patella, which can be solved by joint orthopedic surgery to restore joint function.
