Introduction to the origin of hip-hop dance

How did hip-hop lock dance evolve? In order to help you understand hip-hop, the following is an introduction to the origin of hip-hop. Welcome to read the reference!

First, the origin of street dance

Hip-Hop is a kind of folk dance, which arose among African-American teenagers in 1980s and is an integral part of African-American "hip-hop". Because this kind of dance appears in the street, regardless of the venue equipment, it is called hip-hop, which has strong participation, performance and competitiveness.

In China, street dance as a fitness method was introduced by Meng Xianjun of Beijing Sport University on 1995. In order to achieve the effect of fitness, Meng Xianjun selectively adapted the original hip-hop dance to be chic and decadent, and removed the difficult and dangerous ground movements in the hip-hop performance, instead of venting his emotions, he only wanted to be healthy.

Second, the types of street dance

According to the types of movements, street dance can be divided into two categories: street dance and break dance. Broken: It is a highly skilled sports dance, which requires dancers to have high strength, flexibility and coordination. Teenagers who dance this type of dance are called B-Boy/B-Girl.

Hip-Hop: Dance-style hip-hop, which has many styles, such as Poping, Locking, Electric, Turbo, House and so on. They don't need high technology such as breaking, but they need more coordination and sense of dance, as well as flexibility and control of their limbs.

There is also a saying that hip-hop is collectively referred to as Hip-Hop, including two categories-old shoot and New Shool. Old Shool dances include lock (lock dance), Poping (mechanical dance), break (break dance), Wave (electric current), etc., while New Shool is generally "gentle", without much foot movements, only adding a lot of head and hand movements, paying attention to the rhythm of the upper body. In the rhythm of the same period, the new school appears more fluent and advocates natural expression, while the music rhythm of the old school is more intensive.

In China, street dance is currently divided into fitness street dance and popular street dance. Hip-hop in the gym is called fitness hip-hop, which combines the most basic and simple content covered by popular hip-hop with the part beneficial to physical and mental development.
