Is overweight necessarily unhealthy? What kind of weight is healthy?

Being overweight does not necessarily mean being unhealthy, but being overweight may increase the risk of some health problems. The relationship between weight and health is very complicated, which requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors.

Whether the weight is healthy or not can be preliminarily evaluated by calculating the body mass index (BMI). Body mass index is a figure calculated according to the ratio of height to weight. Generally speaking, the following are common criteria for classifying weight according to the range of body mass index:

-Body mass index is lower than 18.5: light.

-Body mass index is between 18.5 and 24.9: normal weight range.

-Body mass index is between 25 and 29.9: overweight.

-Body mass index greater than or equal to 30: obesity.

However, the body mass index (BMI) is only a rough index, which cannot take into account the individual's muscle mass, bone density and fat distribution. Therefore, other factors such as waist circumference, body fat content, blood pressure, cholesterol level and blood sugar control need to be considered.

Most importantly, everyone's body composition and health status are unique. It is more important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, moderate exercise, good sleep and ways to cope with stress. If you are worried about your weight or health, it is recommended to consult a doctor or a professional health expert, who can provide more accurate advice and guidance according to your specific situation.
