Subcutaneous fat is usually measured by sebum thickness gauge, and the determination site is selected:
(1) Upper arm-the midpoint of the connecting line from the acromion of the left upper arm to the radial head, that is, the abdominal position of the triceps brachii;
(2) Back-below the left scapular angle;
(3) Abdomen-right abdomen is 1cm.
In addition, it is sometimes necessary to measure the neck, chest, front and rear thighs and gastrocnemius of the calf. It should be pointed out that the thickness of subcutaneous fat measured by sebometer is twice the sum of the thickness of skin and subcutaneous adipose tissue.
Is there a standard for subcutaneous fat thickness? At present, China mainly refers to the national nutrition survey data of the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare as a reference for evaluating the obesity of Japanese children and adults.
The thickness of triceps brachii skin wrinkle wall in Chinese male adults is greater than 10.4mm, and that in female adults is greater than 17.5mm, which belongs to obesity.
The skin wrinkle thickness of men with normal abdomen is 5 ~ 15mm, obesity is greater than 15mm, and emaciation is less than 5 mm; The thickness of abdominal skin folds in normal adult women is 12 ~ 20mm, and when it is greater than 20mm, it is obese. When it is less than 12mm, it is more meaningful to measure this part, especially for women over 40 years old.
The average thickness of scapular skin wrinkles in normal adults is 12.4mm, and obesity can be diagnosed if it exceeds14 mm.
When there is no caliper, you can pick up the skin fold wall with your thumb and forefinger, and then measure the thickness of the upper and lower edges of the fold wall with a ruler. Although the data is not accurate, you can get a general idea.
