Regular oral examination, away from oral diseases.

So far, oral diseases such as cholera and diphtheria cannot be prevented by vaccination; But we can use some other methods to reduce dental and oral diseases, or even completely eliminate oral diseases. These methods are:

1. Brush your teeth immediately after meals. 2. Be nutritious and not partial eclipse. 3. Apply fluoride to protect teeth. 4. Check your mouth regularly.

If you can brush your teeth regularly, you can maintain oral hygiene, destroy the environment and opportunities for tooth decay and reduce the incidence of tooth decay. At the same time, due to the cleanliness of the oral cavity, the formation rate of dental calculus (tartar) is reduced, and the possibility of periodontal disease is relatively reduced.

Diet should be moderate, not partial eclipse. Moderate diet and adequate nutrition are the ways of keeping in good health and the basic principles of oral health. Many children have the habit of partial eclipse, especially for sugary foods, but many research reports in the past have pointed out that:

1. The more lactic acid bacteria, the higher the tooth decay rate. Eating low-sugar food can reduce lactic acid bacteria. 3. The decrease of the number of lactic acid bacteria leads to the decrease of tooth decay rate.

From the above, we can see that to prevent tooth decay, we must limit the intake of sugar.

One of the theories of fluoride to prevent tooth decay is that it can reduce the solubility of enamel in acid; However, whether fluoride has ideal chemical interaction with enamel must consider the permeability of enamel. However, this permeability gradually decreases after teething, indicating that local fluoride application in children is more effective than that in adults.

The most suitable age for fluoride application is three years old, seven years old, ten years old and thirteen years old, and it is applied two to four times a year. Commonly used fluorinating agents for external use are 2% sodium fluoride and 100% tin fluoride. Generally speaking, this method can reduce the rate of tooth decay by 40% to more than 60%.

Because there is no pain in the early stage of tooth decay, it is often ignored. By the time I came to see a doctor in pain, because my condition was serious, I needed more treatment time and spent more money, which was really not cost-effective. So regular oral examination is also the basic principle of oral health care. However, regular check-up is not always once a year, it should depend on the age and everyone's situation.

Generally speaking, the regular check-up starts with the upper and lower six deciduous teeth in front of the child, that is, from one year to one year and three months, so you should go to the dental clinic for check-up, consult the dentist and receive guidance at the same time. Children and school-age children need to be examined every three to six months. For the elderly, due to the increase of tumor opportunities and changes in periodontal status, they should also be examined once every six months to one year. Others also need oral examination at least once a year.

To sum up, keeping oral health depends on people observing the four basic principles of oral health care, and this kind of early prevention, early detection and early treatment is also the focus of modern medicine.
