Talking about kidney health

Water is one of the indispensable substances for human body, which is closely related to life and health. Drinking water has many benefits to human body, such as warming gastrointestinal tract, promoting appetite, stimulating intestinal peristalsis and preventing constipation. In hot summer, the amount of sweating increases greatly, so it is necessary to drink more water, but some people worry that drinking more water will hurt the kidneys. Let's talk about this topic today.

Drinking more water for healthy adults generally won't hurt the kidneys.

We know that drinking water is closely related to the health of the kidneys. For most normal people, it is not too much water to drink, but too little water to drink. Drinking plenty of water can dilute the urine, so that the urine can be discharged quickly, which can not only prevent kidney calculi, but also protect the kidneys. If you drink too little water, a series of diseases may occur.

Studies have shown that for healthy adults, drinking 2 liters to 3 liters of water a day will never exceed the compliance capacity of the kidney. As long as it doesn't exceed 3 liters, we don't have to worry about kidney damage at all, but we can foresee the benefits of drinking water: promoting metabolism, preventing kidney calculi, promoting uric acid excretion and preventing gout attacks.

Don't drink more water under special diseases.

Of course, drinking too much water during special diseases may not be a good thing. People with poor renal function (such as patients with acute and chronic renal failure) and people with heart failure should not drink more water, and should follow certain standards, otherwise it may lead to water poisoning, which is also called "hypervolemia and hyponatremia" in medicine.

Take patients with renal failure as an example. Early patients can drink water normally if they urinate normally and store anhydrous sodium. In the later stage, if the patient has water and sodium retention and cannot urinate, drinking too much water may lead to edema aggravation and even heart failure. Generally, patients with kidney disease do not need to deliberately limit the amount of drinking water to prevent urine concentration. Kidney calculi patients should drink plenty of water, but if the stones are too large, exceeding 12.5px, and reach the upper ureter, or have caused obstruction, the water consumption should be limited to prevent hydronephrosis.

Precautions for drinking water

1) The average adult should drink at least1200ml of water every day, or

6-8 glasses of water, a small number of times, each time should drink 150 to 200 ml, strong people can drink 2000 ml more, drink 3000 ml less.
