Zusanli, also known as Xia Ling, is the lowest point of the stomach and the meeting point of the stomach meridian. This point is located on the lateral side of the calf, three inches below the lateral knee eye (the nose point of the calf), and the horizontal finger is located on the lateral side of the anterior tibial crest. "Zusanli" is one of the five Shu points, and its nature belongs to soil meridian and soil point. "Treating the five internal organs simultaneously" can be used for all diseases of the six internal organs. Zusanli point has been designated as a physical strengthening point by health experts since ancient times because of its powerful function. The ancients called it "longevity point". Zusanli point has the functions of regulating spleen and stomach, regulating qi and blood, regulating digestion and tonifying deficiency. There is a saying in Chinese medicine that "if you want to be safe, Li Sanchang will not do it." Regular moxibustion at Zusanli point has the functions of regulating qi and blood in various systems of human body, strengthening body resistance, balancing yin and yang, eliminating pathogenic factors and preventing diseases, and can make vitality last and prolong life.
Ancient medical records attached great importance to Zusanli point, and Lingshu said, "Evil lies in the spleen and stomach ... all of which are related to Zusanli." The song "Four Generals Divide" says: "Leave three miles in the belly." Thousands of Women's Wings considers Zusanli as "abdominal cold, fullness, abdominal ringing, shortness of breath, inability to stand for a long time ... blood stasis in the chest and abdomen, small abdominal distension ... typhoid fever, fever, sweating ... bitter taste, internal heat ... laryngitis ... insufficient stomach qi, ... beriberi". Acupuncture Juying also stated that "treating stomach cold ... constipation, stuffy heart, sudden death and heartbroken ... water and gas poisoning ... blurred vision, dizziness and unconsciousness of parturient". Hua Tuo used Zusanli to treat "five fatigue and seven injuries and fatigue". In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Qin, a physician in the Liu and Song Dynasties, said that all diseases were cured. In the Tang Dynasty, Wang Tao wrote in "The Secret of Outer Taiwan": "If you don't moxibustion for three miles outside the age of 30, you will be angry and dull, making your eyes dull, and you can be angry with three miles." Moxibustion Tactics Guide: "After the age of 40, Yin Qi gradually declines, and it is easy to get angry. Regular moxibustion at this point is three to five strong and reversible. " "Acupuncture Dacheng" said: "When there is no stroke, a month or two ago, or three or four months ago, the calf aches and numbness from time to time, and it will take a long time to solve. This will also make the stroke wait for three miles, hurting the muscles and bones, and each can do its best. " In ancient Japan, there was a saying "Don't walk with people who didn't moxibustion Zusanli", and in China, there was a saying "Moxibustion Zusanli is better than eating an old hen". And "to be safe, Li San often doesn't do it", in medical theory, is to carry out purulent moxibustion at Zusanli point. Even Jian Jiang's Heart Method pointed out: "In the disease-free dragon method, there must be 10 days of moxibustion at Zusanli point every month, and the life span will exceed 200 years." Although it is very exaggerated, when asked about the health care methods of many centenarians, they all moxibustion Zusanli. It can be seen that Zusanli point is indeed an important acupuncture point for disease removal and health care.
First, the positioning of Zusanli
Zusanli is located in the anterolateral part of the calf, 3 inches below the external knee, and a horizontal finger (middle finger) from the front edge of the tibia.
How to find Zusanli? There are two simple methods for selecting acupoints:
First, I am sitting in a chair with my knees bent, my feet flat and the ground naturally flat. My hands are around my knees, my index finger is on the front edge of my tibia below my knee, and my four fingers are disturbed. This is the point where my fingertips touch.
Second, reach out and take it. Place your right hand on your left leg, your left hand on your right leg, and move your thumb up along the lateral edge of the tibia until it is blocked by a protruding oblique bone. The tip of your thumb is the point.
Second, the method of moxibustion Zusanli
There are many methods of moxibustion, but there are two main ways for ordinary people to achieve health care through moxibustion at Zusanli:
Moxibustion: Take a very fine moxa stick, make it into a cone-shaped moxa stick the size of a wheat grain, then stand upright on the acupoint, and then gently touch it from the top with thread incense to make it burn evenly downwards. When the first moxa cone burns to the middle, put it out with your fingers or pick it up quickly when you know the heat; Then put the second moxa stick in its original place, burn it halfway, and take it off or press it out when it hurts; Then continue to moxibustion the third moxa stick. After moxibustion, 1 moxa cone 1 is strong, usually 9 strong each time until local redness can be achieved. Moxibustion is applied from the first day to the eighth day of each month. Pay attention to avoid the wind when applying moxibustion.
Moxibustion with moxa sticks: Moxibustion with moxa sticks can be operated by itself without the help of others. Mild moxibustion is generally performed. During the operation, one end of the moxa stick was lit and aimed at Zusanli with a distance of about 0.5- 1.0 inch, which made the patient feel warm and comfortable locally. Generally, moxibustion on each side 15-20 minutes until the skin turns slightly red, once every other day, about ten times a month. Old people can have moxibustion about 30 minutes before going to bed every day. Pay attention to avoid the wind when applying moxibustion.
In the Tang Dynasty, Wang Tao said in "The Secret of Outer Taiwan": "Ordinary people are over 30 years old, and if they don't moxibustion for three miles, they will be angry and dark, and they will be angry for three miles." The ancients in Japan said, "Those who don't moxibustion Zusanli will do different things." There is even a saying among the people in China that moxibustion at Zusanli once is equivalent to replenishing an old hen. It can be seen that the health care function of moxibustion at Zusanli has been deeply rooted in people's hearts. However, "I think it's an armchair strategist, and I don't know if it should be done." The key to achieving health and longevity through moxibustion at Zusanli lies in personal practice and perseverance, which can have an effect.
Moxibustion at Zusanli generally involves mild moxibustion. During the operation, one end of the moxa stick is lit and aimed at Zusanli with a distance of about 0.5- 1.0 inch, which makes the patient feel warm locally. Generally, moxibustion is performed at each side of acupoints for 10- 15 minutes until the skin turns slightly red, and moxibustion is performed every other day for more than ten minutes a month. Old people can have moxibustion about 30 minutes before going to bed every day. Experienced people can also do purulent moxibustion at Zusanli point once a day for about 15 minutes or more. Stop moxibustion after blisters appear at acupoints, and keep local skin clean, and then moxibustion after blisters are absorbed by themselves. However, suppurative moxibustion should be strictly disinfected to prevent infection. This method has been tested many times and the effect is really good. In addition, good quality moxa sticks must be used in moxibustion, because inferior moxa sticks can not only keep health, but also hurt meridians. Moxa sticks suggest you use "fragrant moxa sticks". The quality of their moxa sticks is good, and the moxa sticks are not adulterated, which is much better than those of Danguimin, but they are very affordable. You can go shopping to find them, because their family has a good reputation, and many merchants imitate their family.
Moxibustion is to treat diseases by warming meridians and dredging points, so moxibustion is most suitable for cold syndrome, deficiency syndrome and chronic debilitating diseases. Moxibustion is not suitable for those with yin deficiency, heat syndrome and fever, and it should also be avoided for those who are too hungry and drunk.
