First of all, pathogens
The pathogen of canine sarcoidosis is sarcoptes canis, which can dig tunnels in the stratum corneum of the skin, and dogs are very itchy because they secrete allergens to mites.
Second, the characteristics of the disease
1, dogs often occur, and cats are rare.
2, can be transmitted to healthy dogs, poor resistance will also make people feel itchy.
3, non-seasonal infectious diseases, skin lesions from papules, hair removal, erythema, scabbed epidermis shedding, can develop to systemic infection.
4. The common parts are elbow joint, ear margin, lower abdomen and neck.
Dogs generally have wandering experience or contact with stray dogs.
Third, diagnosis
1, the same medical history and clinical symptoms, and the response to acaricide treatment to diagnose the disease.
2. Ear-foot reflex: Massage the ear margin with index finger and thumb can cause itching reflex, which is suggestive, but it is not a specific symptom of sarcoidosis.
3. Microscopic examination, epidermal scraping and detection of scabies, nymphs, larvae or eggs. It's normal that we can't find out. Just because you didn't find out doesn't mean you didn't. It is difficult to scrape off scabies.
4. Serological examination, but it has not been applied so far.
The histopathology of the skin is considered to be of no diagnostic significance, with different degrees of epidermal hyperplasia, superficial perivascular inflammation, accompanied by lymphocytes, mast cells and eosinophils. Sarcoptes rarely occur in the stratum corneum.
Fourth, case analysis
Variety analysis: white VIP age: unknown sex: maternal immunity: unknown
Dobby, a sick dog, has a history of vagrancy, depilation, scabbing and extreme itching.
Dobby is a sick dog with scabs on his face and hair removal.
Ear margin inspection: When rubbing the ear margin of the sick dog with your fingers, the dog's ipsilateral hind limbs will keep scratching. This is an ear-foot reaction. Dogs' ears and feet react violently.
After the sick dog is cured, shave different parts.
Microscopically, sarcoptic mites and eggs. The blue arrow indicates the adult mite, and the black arrow indicates the mite eggs. Seeing a mite and many mite eggs in one view indicates that the infection is active.
Four. Treatment and prognosis
1, the dog and its contact with dogs should be treated at the same time.
2, medicinal bath. Choose anti-seborrhea shampoo to remove scars and take a bath, which is common in the whole province.
3, ivermectin, 0.2-0.4 mg/kg, subcutaneous injection once every two weeks, or oral once a week, a course of 3-4 weeks.
4. If the animal has severe itching, take 0.5- 1 mg/kg prednisone orally once a day, which is helpful to relieve itching.
5, in order to prevent secondary pyoderma, systemic antibiotics can be used for 3-4 weeks.
6. For the environment, we should get rid of the kennel and use environmental pesticides to completely kill parasites.
7. The prognosis is generally good.
Five, scabies skin scraping matters needing attention
1. Because scabies make holes in the skin surface, in order to improve the detection rate, the skin is generally scraped deeply when scraping. At the same time, because scabies move in the skin and scrape at the junction of healthy parts and scabies, the detection rate can be improved.
2. Before scraping, it is best to record the position of scraping blade and correspond to it, so as to evaluate the therapeutic effect.
3. Scrapers should be scraped in multiple parts and pieces to improve the inspection rate. Multiple scrapers are beneficial to diagnosis, but it will inevitably lead to increased costs.
4. Applying glycerin to the position to be scraped before scraping can promote scabies to move to the superficial part of the skin and improve the scraping rate.
5. After scraping, if you observe the state of the sarcophagus, you can observe it under a microscope, and you can generally observe the moving sarcophagus without adding a cover glass.
6. Generally, it takes 28 days for Sarcoptes to complete a life cycle, so the treatment of Sarcoptes depends on the date of its life cycle, and the number of treatments depends on the nature of the drugs used. It can be seen that the treatment of scabies takes a long time. In the whole treatment process, the owner should fully trust the veterinarian's diagnosis and follow the doctor's advice, otherwise it will be in vain.
