Guangzhou's press conference on "Opinions on Formulating and Implementing Aged Care Services" revealed that permanent residents over the age of 65 can have a free physical examination in the community once a year without household registration restrictions. "Guangpiao" elderly people don't have to go back to their hometown for physical examination.

The high prevalence of chronic diseases has become a major health problem for the elderly. Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, malignant tumors and respiratory diseases are the top three causes of death among the elderly in China. The prevalence of common chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) increases with age.

The assessment of lifestyle and health status includes: understanding the basic health status, self-care ability and lifestyle of smoking, drinking, eating and physical exercise of the elderly, as well as the common symptoms and treatment of past diseases and current chronic diseases.

The Opinions on Formulating and Implementing Nursing Services for the Elderly mentioned that in basic public health services, health management services should be provided for permanent residents aged 65 and above in the jurisdiction.
