When I decided to switch to clinical practice, my relatives at home advised me to think it over. After all, medicine is difficult to learn, with many knowledge points to memorize and longer study time than other majors. Doctors also have high requirements for academic qualifications, and they are worried that I can't stick to this path. Even if I am lucky enough to be a doctor in the future, the task is very heavy. They don't want the girls at home to suffer like this.
However, I chose to change my major and decided to study clinical.
Actually, my idea is very simple. If I am a doctor in the future, I can take better care of myself. If I have any bad symptoms, I can find them earlier. And if I am a doctor, if my parents are unwell, as a daughter, I can take better care of them.
Although they say that being a doctor requires lifelong learning, I don't think it's a big deal. At present, the iterative speed of technology update is unimaginable. No matter what career you choose in the future, you need to keep learning, otherwise, God knows who will destroy us silently.
Today, I suddenly have a deeper understanding of the profession of doctor.
Going out with my parents, my mother suddenly reminded us of something we can't eat.
I was really curious about this and asked her why these things could not be eaten. What is the scientific principle of this?
My mother was speechless for a moment and just said, "That's what experts say."
Experts say so. What kind of experts are they?
Since the outbreak of coronary heart disease and pneumonia, adults at home have paid more and more attention to their health. If you have nothing to do, just look at the contents published by various Tik Tok "experts". As for whether what these "experts" say is true or not and how much credibility they have, no one can say for sure. Anyway, no one knows anyone online, and you can't meet others face to face.
I was also interested in the videos released by these "experts" before. But the more you watch, the more interesting it becomes. Sometimes two "experts" give me two diametrically opposite suggestions in the same respect. They all say they are "experts" and don't know which is more professional. Moreover, there are often fake videos on the Internet, which often reveal that the videos of so-and-so "experts" are fictitious and fabricated. We don't have to believe them or pay IQ tax.
But how can we ordinary people know the knowledge related to physical health? It is said that with advanced technology, we can easily acquire knowledge, but who will take the initiative to learn this knowledge except those who specialize in medicine? Most of our knowledge sources are videos of "experts". What they said is false, and we can't tell.
Maybe I'm just beginning to understand the saying "health depends on life". As a person, physical health is our most basic and important thing. We all pay special attention to health-related news, which requires people who give us popular science to always be serious and cautious about us.
As a medical student, I dare not and cannot expect myself to help the world. I can only say that I am responsible for my major, with light and heat.
