Where is the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River?

Upstream: The upstream is between the source of the Yangtze River and Yichang City, Hubei Province, where there are many rapids.

Middle reaches: From Yichang City to the middle reaches of Hukou, Jiangxi Province, where meanders develop and there are many lakes.

Downstream: Below Hukou, Jiangxi, there is a downstream river with a wide river surface, and Chongming Island is formed by accumulated water in the estuary.

The Yangtze River is rich in water resources. During the flood season, 10,000-ton ships can reach Wuhan, and boats can be traced back to Yibin. The Yangtze River Basin is the most densely populated and economically prosperous area in China, and the important cities along the Yangtze River include Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai.
