On the basis of the former Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Beijing Center for Preventive Medicine and Beijing Institute for Tuberculosis Control, a public welfare institution directly under the Beijing Municipal Health and Wellness Commission was re-established in May 20021.
Beijing Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention implements the laws, regulations and policies of the state and Beijing Municipality on disease prevention and control, formulates the professional planning, technical scheme, health standards and intervention measures for disease prevention and control in the whole city, and organizes their implementation.
Provide technical support, intelligence information, comprehensive judgment and suggestions for Beijing to formulate public health laws, regulations, policies, plans and projects, and organize the implementation of national and city-wide immunization programs.
To undertake the prevention and control of infectious diseases, chronic non-communicable diseases, common diseases among students and vector-borne diseases in Beijing, and carry out disease monitoring and early warning and research on the epidemic law of diseases.
Undertake the traceability, investigation and disposal of infectious diseases in the city, as well as the emergency disposal of public health emergencies and disasters.
Carry out monitoring and intervention on health risk factors, and carry out monitoring, evaluation and epidemiological investigation on food-borne, occupational, radioactive and environmental diseases.
Carry out monitoring and evaluation of public health and nutrition status, put forward intervention strategies and measures, and undertake the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis in the city.
At the same time, it also shoulders the public health guarantee of major political, economic and social activities in the capital and the emergency response task of biological anti-terrorism attacks in the capital.
Carry out basic and applied scientific research and scientific and technological innovation in the fields of public health and disease prevention and control, and promote the transformation of scientific research results.
