A healthy old mage

When we observe the people around us, we can often find that people who are irritable and easy to get angry over trifles also have some physical problems, such as poor liver function and endocrine disorders. And whenever you are depressed, pessimistic and world-weary, just when you are exhausted, the energy provided by your body is not enough to cope with all kinds of affairs. So it is easy for us to attribute a person's temperament to the influence of the body.

Physical illness may indeed affect mental health, but what is certain is that the heart is the master of the body. If the mind is weak and unsound, it will definitely affect your health. Therefore, physical defects or diseases can be improved by adjusting mental state.

First of all, we have to accept the fact that people's bodies are inherently sick. Someone once asked me, who is not sick? I answered him, "The people who are not sick are dead, and the people who are not sick are not born yet." Because the dead don't get sick, and they didn't get sick before they died. Except for these two kinds of people, no one is not sick.

Birth, old age, illness and death are natural laws. From birth, we are constantly experiencing the process of aging, and in genetic factors, everyone has a cause, that is, getting sick at birth, rather than waiting until old.

So, whether you feel it or not, in fact, everyone has physical diseases. I have been sick since I was a child, but I still live well because I know that I am weak and will take care of myself, not overeating and not overworking. It is also because of my illness that I feel that my blessings are not enough and my karma is very heavy, so I know how to be ashamed. Therefore, for me, illness is a ray of hope behind the dark clouds.

On the other hand, some people never get sick, but when they get sick, there is nothing they can do. This is because they never know that there are pathological changes lurking in their bodies, and they don't know how to take care of their bodies. By the time the doctor found out, it was too late.

From this perspective, people who feel sick are very happy! But we don't have to live in fear of disease all the time. For example, I have a friend who always complains that he is sick here and there, or he won't survive next month! This is not only a bad hint to others or yourself, but also a bad influence. This is not a normal state of mind.

Therefore, we should cherish the body with the concept that illness is the normal state of life, and avoid the adverse psychological effects brought by illness when we are really sick. Some people find themselves sick, just like deflated balloons, thinking that they have no hope and will die soon. In fact, since you are sick, you must be treated and cheer up. If you can find your body sick early, you can add more care, maintenance and treatment. At least you won't die right away, and you still have time to deal with many things! So, isn't it a happy thing to find yourself sick?

From the Buddhist point of view, we have created many careers in the past, so when diseases strike and we feel unwell, we should consider it as paying debts due to illness. Being able to pay off debts means that you still have capital, and only by paying off debts can you be "debt-free", which is gratifying. In addition, there is a famous saying in Buddhism: "Monks often have three diseases." This shows that illness is the reason to help the Tao, so people who are often sick can live longer with illness, but they can live longer.

All these ideas can help us face the disease. If we properly use this mentality to deal with our own problems, then even if we are uncomfortable, we can adjust our temperament anytime and anywhere. In this way, you can keep a cheerful and happy mood every day.
