Jiangsu Health Vocational College is a provincial public full-time medical and health college, and the construction unit of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province. It has a history of more than 80 years and belongs to Jiangsu Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission. Its predecessor was the National Central Midwifery School, which was founded in 1933. It is one of the earliest modern health colleges in China after the historical periods of East China Midwifery School, Nanjing Health School and Jiangsu Staff Medical University. With the approval of the provincial government, the Provincial Health Department integrated and optimized the medical education and scientific research resources in the province from 2002 to 2005, and successively merged Jiangsu Institute of Medical Information, Jiangsu Health Statistics Information Center, Jiangsu Health Talent Training Center and Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine School into Jiangsu Staff Medical University, and established Jiangsu Health Vocational and Technical College. At present, the college has six secondary colleges: Health Management and Basic College, Nursing College, Clinical College, Pharmacy College, College of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (Rehabilitation College) and College of Continuing Education. There are medical and health professional groups such as clinical medicine, nursing, rehabilitation and health care, pharmacy, drug distribution and service, medical imaging technology, medical equipment, inspection technology, health information and management, including more than 20 majors and directions. Among them, "nursing" and "rehabilitation therapy technology" are listed as national key majors in higher vocational education; "Nursing Specialty Group" and "Pharmacy Specialty Group" are key construction specialty groups in Jiangsu Province, and "Rehabilitation Therapy Technology" is a brand specialty in Jiangsu Province.

The college has eight experimental training centers (including 49 major experimental training projects), such as pharmacy experimental center and medical nursing training center, including national vocational training bases (pharmacy) 1, provincial vocational training bases (clinical and nursing) 1, and three college-level key training bases (rehabilitation technology, medical imaging technology and health information management). According to the mode of "wards are built in schools and classrooms are built in hospitals", the College has established an off-campus practice base with hospitals such as Jiangsu Cancer Hospital, 136.
