How to prevent epidemic in Beijing Winter Olympics?

Faced with the uncertainty of the spread of the epidemic in COVID-19, BOCOG established a consultation mechanism with the International Olympic Committee, closely communicated with all stakeholders, adhered to the safety bottom line, and gave priority to the prevention and control of the epidemic, so as to achieve the goal of holding the Olympic Games safely as scheduled. After studying and discussing with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, we decided to explain several key issues to all stakeholders:

1, on vaccination policy

Implement a strict vaccination policy. The vaccination of athletes participating in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games should be "received". Other personnel implement the "two-in-one" policy, that is, those who have completed the whole vaccination before coming to China 14 days will directly enter the closed-loop management after entering China; Those who have not been vaccinated or have not completed the whole vaccination will be observed in isolation for 2 1 day after entry. Vaccines recognized by the World Health Organization or relevant international organizations or officially approved by relevant countries/regions are recognized.

2. Games-time closed-loop management policy

From June 23, 2022 to the end of the Winter Paralympics, closed-loop management will be implemented to ensure the safe hosting of the Winter Olympics. Closed-loop management covers arrival and departure, transportation, accommodation, catering, competitions, opening and closing ceremonies and other places involved in the Winter Olympics. In the closed loop, participants will only be able to move between the venues of the Winter Olympics and participate in activities related to their own training, competitions and work. A special transportation system for the Winter Olympics will be used in the closed loop.

3, about the audience policy

In view of the fact that the global situation of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control is still severe and complicated, in order to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 epidemic and ensure the safety of all participants, it is decided not to sell tickets to overseas audiences, but only to domestic audiences who meet the relevant requirements of epidemic prevention and control. The specific epidemic prevention and control requirements that domestic audiences need to abide by and the specific arrangement of ticketing work are being studied and formulated, and will be released to the public in due course after confirmation.

4. Policy on registered guests

BOCOG and the International Olympic Committee are evaluating and optimizing all activities, and the principle of not coming to China as a last resort cannot be implemented. Stakeholders will also adopt this principle when organizing groups and implementing work plans. According to this principle, the IOC Executive Board decided to cancel the guest registration category of all stakeholders.

5. About accommodation policy

Except for athletes and some team officials staying in the Winter Olympics Village, all registered personnel will stay in hotels signed by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee to meet the epidemic prevention and control requirements of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

6. About nucleic acid detection

All the participants and staff of the Winter Olympics at home and abroad who enter the closed loop will carry out daily nucleic acid detection.

In addition, BOCOG will provide assistance to all stakeholders of the Winter Olympics, who cannot independently book air tickets before or during the Games.
