Still giving the children a hand-cranked drink? Obesity and precocious puberty are coming!

Walking in the streets of Taiwan Province Province, there are many beverage shops and new chain cold drink shops emerge one after another. Although I never buy it, I can't help but observe their consumer groups. Whenever I see many young people standing in the arcade waiting for their drinks, many middle school students join the queue after school. I used to wonder, is it because the climate is too hot, so everyone desperately drinks cold drinks? But these sugary drinks can't quench your thirst at all. Even if you order a little sugar, it is equivalent to containing more than a dozen cubes of sugar. The more you drink, the more thirsty you are!

I once chatted with my neighbor about opening a drink shop in a nearby alley. A group of mothers are worried that their children will be tempted to drink too much. A neighbor's wife relayed that she asked her son why he drank drinks every day. The child's answer is: "Drinking sweet drinks is refreshing! The mothers at the scene couldn't help rolling their eyes. Someone said earnestly, "No wonder there are more and more people with diabetes. 」

When the National Health Bureau conducted a national health interview survey in 2009, it sampled 265,438+079 primary school students. As a result, 74% pupils drank sugary drinks the day before the survey.

With regard to the survey of junior high school students' health behaviors, 4856 junior high school students were interviewed in 2008, and the results showed that 93% junior high school students had at least drunk sugary drinks 1 day every week in the past 30 days. By 20 12, a total of 6373 junior high school students were interviewed. Among them, 95% junior high school students drink at least 1 cup of sugary drinks every day, and 55% people drink 2 cups every day.

These data are worrying, and the health of our country's seedlings and citizens is likely to be destroyed by these sugary drinks, which will not only lead to obesity of children, but also bury the root of the disease!

Although the news often uses the metaphor of "how many cubes of sugar are there in a full-sugar hand-cranked drink" to help people understand how high the sugar content is, if you think there is so much sugar in a sugary drink, it is all wet. For most beverage shops, the cost of sugar cubes is too high, so most of them choose to synthesize high-fructose syrup (artificial fructose for short). This syrup is sweet enough and low in cost, which is convenient for mixing drinks. Shops are eager for it, but eating too much will cause metabolic syndrome, leading to high triglycerides, fatty liver, heart disease, gout and other health problems.

Medical circles have confirmed that obesity is an important factor leading to precocious puberty in children. Many people think that precocious puberty means at most that menstruation comes earlier and stops growing taller earlier. It's not that simple. These children are prone to cardiovascular diseases in the future, and the chances of developing diabetes and breast cancer are particularly high.

With the development of obesity, some people argue that it's okay to replace sugar, but I don't think so.

There are artificial and natural sugar substitutes. Among artificial sugar substitutes, sorbitol, mannitol and xylitol have lower sweetness and calories than sucrose, and are often used to make chewing gum and sugar-free candy. In addition, saccharin, sweeteners, aspartame (phenylketonuria patients should not eat), acesulfame-k, etc. Very sweet but almost no calories, widely known as artificial sweeteners, the sweetness is amazing. For example, saccharin is 300 times that of sucrose, sweetener is 30 times that of sucrose, aspartame is more than 150 times that of sucrose, and acesulfame K is 60 times that of sucrose. Both manufacturers and users of artificial sugar substitutes claim that they are harmless to health, but the negative results and disputes of animal experiments always exist. Not all countries allow the use of artificial sugar substitutes, and even if they do, there are dose limits. In that case, is it necessary for us to be mice?

As for natural sugar substitute, stevioside extracted from stevia rebaudiana leaves is the most popular one, which is more than 200 times sweeter than sucrose, but the calorie is only 1/300. If you need to substitute sugar, it is a better choice.

A foreign customer once said to me, "Your drinks in Taiwan Province Province are really delicious, and your lunch is also delicious! I can't stay here for long, or my mother won't recognize me when I go home. This foreign friend is joking, but we should think about it ourselves. China people are lucky that sugary drinks are so popular!
