Doctor: Please come in. I'm Dr. Evans.

Carl: I'm Carl Matthews.

Doctor: Please sit down. Is there a problem?

Carl: I've lost a little weight recently. I don't seem to have that much energy. I had a terrible headache and stomachache yesterday. I may have a fever. I think I ate something bad because I have diarrhea.

Doctor: (checking Carl's file) Your last check-up three months ago was all right. Did you eat well? Did you mention anything?

Carl: I ate well, more or less. Last night, I thought I was going to throw up.

Doctor: Did you sleep well?

Carl: Sometimes it's a little off and on. This morning, I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn't even get out of bed.

Doctor: (after checking Carl's heartbeat, blood pressure and temperature) Everything seems to be all right. Any other symptoms?

Carl: No, I can't think of anything. I must say, things in the office have been very busy recently.

Doctor: I think you may have the flu. You do look a little tired. I'll give you a flu shot and suggest you take some vitamin supplements. Try to relax for a while at work.

3.

Good morning, doctor.

Good morning. What's the matter with you?

I don't feel very well. I had a cough and a runny nose last night.

B: Have you taken your temperature?

Yes, I ate it this morning. I have a slight fever.

How long have you been like this?

Since yesterday.

Let me check you carefully.

A: OK. Is it serious?

No big deal. You just have a bad cold. Take these pills three times a day. Have a good rest and drink plenty of water. You will be all right soon.

Thank you, doctor. Goodbye.

B: Good-bye.
