2. Kannonji
brief introduction
Kannonji was founded in the Song Dynasty and rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. There are Shanmen in the Qing Dynasty, Maitreya Hall, Pilu Hall in Jieyin Temple and Guanyin Hall in the Ming Dynasty, among which murals and hanging carvings in the Ming Dynasty are regarded as national treasures.
The Pilu Temple in the temple was built in the Ming Dynasty, and the Ming Dynasty murals on the left and right walls are called the "treasures of the town temple" in Kannonji. These murals are divided into three layers: upper, middle and lower. The upper floor is painted with flying sky, treasure house and the wonders of the heavenly palace; The middle layer is painted with twelve Jue Yuan Bodhisattvas and twenty-four Buddha statues; The lower floor is painted with niches, animals and sacrificial figures. The line drawing of the whole mural skillfully adopts the traditional orchid painting, iron line drawing, nail head and mouse tail painting in China. Each bodhisattva's costume is quite flexible in the choice of line drawing techniques according to its different symbols in religion.
There are three bodhisattvas carved in the Ming Dynasty in the Guanyin Hall of the temple, and there are exotic flowers, birds and animals on the back screen, with bright colors. Behind the Bodhisattva is the well-known Guanyin statue in troubled times, which is a huge deep relief image and is praised as "Venus of the East" by the famous aesthete Wang Chaowen. Guanyin, a beautiful woman in gone with the wind, is riding anchovies in the stormy waves, with a panoramic view of Mount Emei in Sichuan, Mount Putuo in Zhejiang and Mount Wutai in Shanxi on her back. All Buddhist disciples riding various aquatic animals are scattered around Guanyin, a beautiful woman in gone with the wind, and the head and tail of anchovies are hidden in the waves. In this wonderful group of reliefs, ancient masters boldly used the sculpture technique of "Zhi", which not only enriched the composition, but also enhanced the stability of the statue.
