Biography

Following Chen Fengyi's participation in the preparation of the first joint clinic of traditional Chinese medicine in Fujian Province and later the Quanzhou City United Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, he also participated in the medical work of the Fujian Province 7962 National Defense Project Health Center from 1955 to 1956, and was awarded the third-class merit for the outstanding completion of the medical mission, and the department under his leadership was awarded the second-class merit for the collective work.

The public outpatient clinic and the Quanzhou City United Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were established in 1958. In 1958, Quanzhou Municipal People's Hospital was established through the merger of Municipal Outpatient Clinic, Municipal United Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Yonghui Women's and Children's Hospital, and Chen Fengyi successively served as the chief physician of internal medicine, vice president, and president of the hospital.

Chen Fengyi was a Western physician, but he was not only active in the study of traditional Chinese medicine, discovery, research, but also the folk's secret formula after theoretical analysis to promote the application. He encouraged Chinese medicine practitioners to contribute medicines, to assist in clinical summaries, the development of successful "six O red", "Quanzhou snake medicine" and other drugs. Because of his remarkable achievements in health care, Chen Fengyi was successively elected as the chairman of Quanzhou Medical and Health Workers' Association, and vice-chairman and chairman of Quanzhou Internal Medicine Society of Fujian Branch of Chinese Medical Association. At the beginning of the liberation period, Chen Fengyi joined the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party (CPAWDP) and served as a member of the first session of the Quanzhou Committee of the CPAWDP, the second session of the CPAWDP as a vice-chairman, and the third to seventh sessions of the Committee. He was also a member of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a member of the Quanzhou Municipal People's Government, vice-chairman of the 1st to 5th sessions of the Quanzhou Committee of the CPPCC, vice-chairman of the first session of the LiCheng District Committee of the CPPCC, and a representative of the 1st to 5th, 7th to 9th sessions of the Quanzhou Municipal Committee, as well as a delegate to the 1st People's Congress of LiCheng District. He was a member of the second session of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party and a member of the third to fifth sessions of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial Committee, and after retiring in 1985, he served as a consultant of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party, an honorary committee member of the Municipal Committee of the Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party and an advisor of the People's Hospital of Quanzhou.

In March 1991, Chen Fengyi died at the age of 86 years.
