East and northwest Guangdong refers to eastern Guangdong, western Guangdong, and northern Guangdong.
East Guangdong, is the eastern region of Guangdong Province, including the three prefecture-level cities of Jieyang, Shantou, and Chaozhou (from the provincial capital to the east).
Western Guangdong, short for the western part of Guangdong Province, includes the three prefecture-level cities of Zhanjiang, Maoming and Yangjiang.
North Guangdong, short for the northern region of Guangdong, namely Qingyuan and Shaoguan.
Jieyang, also known as "Rongcheng", is a province-level city in Guangdong Province, one of the three cities of Chaoshan in eastern Guangdong Province, located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, with the Rongjiang River passing through the city, neighboring Shantou and Chaoshan City to the east, Shantou City to the west, the South China Sea to the south, and Meizhou City to the north. It enjoys local legislative power.
Shantou is a municipality in Guangdong province, a special economic zone, and an important port city on the southeast coast and the center of eastern Guangdong. It is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, at the southern end of the Han River Delta, bordering Chaozhou City in the north, Jieyang City in the west, and the South China Sea in the southeast. It has six municipal districts and one county under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 2,064 square kilometers and a resident population of 5,579,200 in 2016.
Chaozhou, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Han River, bordering Zhao'an and Pinghe counties in Fujian Province to the east, Jiedong District in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province to the west, Fengshun and Taipu counties in Meizhou City to the north, and the South China Sea to the south and connecting to Shantou City.
Chaosu is one of the member cities of the Economic Zone on the West Coast of the Taiwan Strait, a tourist city open to the outside world, and a distribution center for commodities in the Han River Basin along the border of Fujian, Guangdong and Gan. The city's terrain is high in the north and low in the south, with mountains and hills accounting for 65% of the city's total area, mainly in Raoping County and the northern part of Chaoan District.
Zhanjiang, formerly known as "Guangzhou Bay", also known as "Harbor City", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, located in the southwestern part of Guangdong Province on the Leizhou Peninsula, the southernmost tip of mainland China, and at the confluence of Guangdong, Guangxi and Qiong provinces.

Shaoguan, referred to as "Shao", the ancient name of Shaosu, named after the famous mountains in Danxia Shao Shi Mountain, take the name of the Shao Shi change East Hengzhou for Shaosu, and then successive dynasties followed. Shaoguan is the junction of Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi commodity distribution center, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao radiation inland hinterland of the "golden channel". Shaoguan is the national planning and development of a railroad hub and highway transportation hub city.
