3.1 The organization shall provide a safe, healthy working environment and shall take effective measures to
minimize, wherever possible, potential health and safety accidents in the working environment,
occupational injuries and occupational hazards in order to avoid the occurrence of or in connection with
accidents at or as a result of work. accidents to health hazards.
3.2 The organization should assess the hazards in the work environment for new employees, pregnant women and breastfeeding women
as well as hazards that may arise outside the workplace, to ensure that the level of risk of hazards to their health and
safety is reasonably reduced or minimized.
3.3 When the hazards in the work environment have been minimized to the extent possible, but risks remain
, the organization should fund the necessary personal protective equipment for employees. In the event of a work-related injury, the organization should provide first aid and follow-up medical treatment to the employee.
3.4 The organization shall designate a senior management representative who is responsible for providing a healthy
and safe working environment for all employees and for implementing the health and safety requirements of this standard.
3.5 A health and
safety committee consisting of an equal number of management representatives and employees shall be established and maintained. Unless specifically required by law, it shall be the responsibility of the Union to recognize at least one employee member of the safety committee. If there is no union-appointed representative or if the organization does not have a union
, employees should appoint a representative they consider appropriate. Resolutions of the safety committee should be
communicated effectively to all employees. The committee should receive regular training and re-education to ensure that it is able to competently

take responsibility for the continuous improvement of the health and safety environment in the workplace. The committee should also conduct formal
style periodic OHS risk evaluations to identify and address occurring and potential
health and safety hazards. Records of these risk evaluations, improvements and preventive measures undertaken should be maintained.
3.6 The organization shall provide employees with effective health and safety training on a regular basis, including on-site training, and
specific job-specific training, if necessary. Training should be provided for new entrants, transfers and for employees in positions where accidents have occurred and where
technical improvements have been made and/or new equipment has been introduced that may present new health and safety risks
.
3.7 The organization shall establish documented procedures for detecting, preventing, minimizing, eliminating and responding to potential hazards to employee
health and safety. The organization shall maintain a written record
of all health and safety incidents that occur in the workplace and company-controlled
and in the organization's leased or contracted residences and properties.
3.8 The organization shall provide all employees with free access to clean toilets, free drinking water and
suitable hygienic food storage for catering breaks.
3.9 Where the organization provides staff accommodation, it shall ensure that the facilities are clean, safe and able to meet the basic needs of the staff
. This is regardless of whether the accommodation is owned by the organization or leased or contracted elsewhere.
3.10 All personnel shall have the right to leave an imminent and serious hazard, even if not authorized by the organization.
