The Fifth Third Research Institute of China National Armaments Industry Corporation (Shandong Institute of Non-Metallic Materials) is located in the beautiful spring city of Jinan, under the Simulation Technology Research Center (referred to as the "Simulation Center"), was established in 1999. It is a high-tech center of the Institute, specializing in the numerical simulation of metallic and non-metallic materials (rubber, plastic, composite materials) and their structures, as well as the mechanical and structural testing of large components.
After several years of development, the simulation center has now developed into a young team with solid professional knowledge and skilled technology, with more than 80% of the personnel with doctoral and master's degrees. The technicians graduated from national key institutions (Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing University of Technology, Shandong University, etc.), which have made great contributions to the analysis, design and optimization of key components in China's national defense industry.
The Simulation Center is equipped with internationally advanced finite element analysis and design software and high-performance computer workstations. It has the ability of dynamic and static simulation and design evaluation of various large and medium-sized structures, has its own industry characteristics in three-dimensional modeling, simulation and analysis of composite materials, engineering plastics, rubber products, mold design, and has technical advantages in nonlinear, large deformation, transient impact simulation and analysis.
The Simulation Center has long been undertaking simulation calculations and performance evaluations of static stiffness, dynamic response, modal analysis and impact simulation analysis of various components, as well as three-dimensional design of products, mold design, and engineering drawings. Especially in the highly non-linear (material, geometry and boundary), large deformation, transient impact, armor piercing simulation analysis has a unique technical advantage.
