In missions that are location-independent and start automatically when in range, hostile NPCs also walk the streets at all times, so the player is in constant danger of being attacked. Players can either ignore the enemies on the side of the road and watch the famous species get slaughtered, or they can go up to them and give them sanction, but whatever they do, it's the player's choice.
Main quests require a certain level, event, or branch completion to trigger. Main quests directly advance the plot and often have powerful objectives such as bosses. Rewards for mainline completion are usually good, and boss drops will be better than the usual enemies. And mainline completion often opens up new areas or systems that gradually take players deeper into the major areas of New York.
The mode of clearing side quests to build up experience and equipment before challenging the main quest is relatively easy. Side missions might be killing targets, rescuing hostages, salvaging resources, defending facilities, and so on.
In addition to the usual main branch structure, the game also offers encounter missions. They may be triggered when the player is wandering around the map. There is a clear indication in the center of the screen, and immediately after triggering an encounter mission, you can press F to change the mission tracking, allowing the GPS to switch to the newly triggered mission. Encounter missions provide players with more opportunities to fight, improve, and enrich the game experience. Players can also choose based on the mission type icon on the big map after understanding the mission system (for example, they can choose to carry out the mission of upgrading the healthcare organization of the stronghold to focus on completing it and quickly upgrade the healthcare system).
Players are also free to choose from the game's smaller missions and storylines. Whether it's listening to the last-minute conversations left over from the phone, or the ECHO that lets you go back in time to see the cause and effect of everything that happened at that moment, it's all about getting deeper into the atmosphere of this game ─ 'despair'. The fact that there's so much bloodshed in what often feels like a meaningless alleyway can make you want to run through the world.
(1)ECHO: Reconstruct the scene of the place, and experience what happened here in the past.
(2)TELEPHONE RECORDINGS: Record the voices of your friends and family at different times and in different situations.
(3)Event Report: Reactions by NPCs telling the results of certain key events.
(4)Crashed Drone: New York taken from the air, for a glimpse of what happened.
(5) The Survival Guide: one man's account of what happened in the aftermath of the disaster and while surviving.
(6) Missing Agents Trail: A record of the last actions of the first wave of agents, letting the player know everything about them and their last figure. The three major branch system established in the base is also helpful to the player. The player builds a base of operations similar to a personal copy, and can upgrade the three main systems in the base of operations thus improving their personal abilities.
The three systems are the Medical Branch, the Technology Branch, and the Defense Branch. This is the most important function of the base of operations, and directly affects the strength of the character and the difficulty of the game. In the beginning, the three branch systems are offline, players need to go to the corresponding branch to find the person in charge of triggering the task.
Taking the medical branch as an example, players need to go to the Madison Field Hospital to rescue the medical doctor. This is a difficult mission, but it opens up the medical branch system to provide more skills and specializations. Once the mission is completed, the Medical Branch is enabled. The operating percentage is 0 at first, and the player will need to upgrade to unlock the features.
Each branch has 10 upgrades that unlock various abilities. Upgrades cost points, which are available through quests and trades. Upgrades cost different amounts for different features, and some upgrades require other upgrades as a prerequisite. Upgrading branch buildings will unlock the corresponding specializations and skills, so you can check the unlocking, modification, and proficiency requirements for the skills before upgrading the branch building to unlock the desired abilities. After upgrading, the branch's run percentage will increase. Unlocked abilities will also show up directly.
In addition to the unlocked abilities after upgrading, there is also a direct cosmetic change to the base of operations. Players are able to see the completed building and access it to view it.
Finally, there are additional missions after branch activation and upgrades. When you open the map icon, you can see that the icon belonging to the medical branch is in the shape of a green snowflake. Completing the corresponding medical branch quests will earn you medical supplies, which are an important resource for crafting medical props.
In addition to relying on weapons and equipment to improve their combat power, players have another important factor: abilities. Abilities include skills, talents, and specializations, which are unlocked through building upgrades at the base of operations, and skills can be assembled to the shortcut bar for use. Skills are usually active abilities that can be used in battle, providing functions such as healing, firepower, protection, and rescue. Talents are usually passive enhancements to a character's skills, increasing their effectiveness, reducing their cooldown, or triggering special effects. Specializations provide additional functionality, such as adding a shortcut bar, and often correspond to building upgrades.
Skills are abilities that players can equip with shortcuts, and players unlock more shortcuts as they level up. Skills are categorized into Medical, Technology, and Defense, which correspond to the three branch buildings of the base of operations. (For example, the Pulse skill can be used to emit a detection wave that penetrates cover and marks the location of enemies and friendly forces. (Players can also improve the Pulse skill). Each skill has three modifications. The Scout Pack modification, for example, increases the range of Pulse and can mark nearby loot. The Scramble modification increases the chances of yourself and friendly troops not being scanned by the enemy. The Tactical Scan modification also increases the damage taken by scanned targets.
In addition, each skill has a proficiency effect. The Pulse proficiency is where the player gives an early warning when they are swept by an enemy and labels the enemy they are scanning. You can see the necessary conditions for unlocking and remodeling skills in the skill descriptions. The conditions all require upgrading a particular branch building that corresponds to the function, and the skill effects can also be accessed in detail in the description.
At the beginning of the game, players can equip two normal skills and one special skill. The normal skills can choose one normal improvement (*** three) and one expert improvement.
