What does payment gateway mean?

1. What is a payment gateway?

The payment gateway is the interface between the banking financial network system and the Internet. It is a set of server equipment operated by banks, which converts the data transmitted on the Internet into the internal data of financial institutions, or the designated third party handles the payment information of merchants and the payment instructions of customers.

The payment gateway can ensure the secure and seamless transmission of transactions between Internet users and transaction processors, and there is no need to reform the original host system. It can handle all Internet payment protocols, Internet security protocols, transaction exchange, information and protocol conversion, and local authorization and settlement processing. In addition, it can be set to meet the requirements of a specific transaction processing system. Without payment gateway, the electronic payment function of online banking cannot be realized.

2. The main functions of payment gateway

Decrypt the data packets from the internet and repackage the data according to the communication protocol in the banking system; Receive the response message of the banking system, convert the data into the data format transmitted by the Internet, and encrypt it. That is, the payment gateway mainly completes the functions of communication, protocol conversion, data encryption and decryption, and protects the internal network of the bank.

Specifically, banks can use the payment gateway to achieve the following functions:

(1) Configure and install Internet payment capability;

(2) Avoid modifying the existing host system;

(3) Using intuitive user graphical interface to manage the system;

(four) to adapt to debit cards, electronic checks, electronic cash, small electronic payment and other electronic payment methods;

(5) Provide complete merchant payment processing functions, including authorization, data collection, settlement and reconciliation;

(6) Monitoring online activities by reporting and tracking transactions on the Internet;

(7) RSA public key encryption and SET protocol can ensure the security of network transactions;

(8) Make the payment processing flow on the Internet conform to the business model of the current payment processor, ensure the consistency of merchant information management, and provide opportunities for the payment processor to enter the Internet transaction processing.

3. Composition of payment gateway system

(1) main control module;

(2) communication module;

(3) data processing module;

(4) database module;

(5) Statistical clearing module;

(6) query printing module;

(7) System management function design module;

(8) Exception handling module;

(9) Security module.

4. Workflow of Payment Gateway

In the first step, when placing an order with a seller, a commercial customer must first issue a "user order", which includes a series of product-related issues such as product name and quantity.

Step 2: After receiving the "User Order", the seller inquires about the products from the supplier according to the requirements of the "User Order" and issues an "Order Inquiry Sheet".

Step 3: After the supplier receives and reviews the "Order Inquiry", it returns the answer to the "Order Inquiry" to the seller. Basically, it's a matter of availability.

Step 4, the seller sends a "transportation inquiry" about the transportation of goods to the transporter under the condition of confirming that the supplier can meet the "user order" requirements of commercial customers.

Step 5, after receiving the "transportation query", the carrier returns the answer to the transportation query to the seller. Such as: the ability to complete transportation, and the requirements for date, route and mode of transportation.

Step six, after confirming that there is no problem in transportation, the seller immediately gives a satisfactory answer to the "user order" of the commercial customer, and at the same time sends a "delivery notice" to the supplier to inform the transporter of transportation.

Step 7: The carrier starts to deliver the goods after receiving the "Transport Notice". Then, the commercial customer sends a "payment notice" to the payment gateway.

Payment gateway and bank settlement bills, etc.

Step 8, the payment gateway sends a "transfer notice" to the seller, indicating that the transaction is successful.
