Ryoma Echizen, a talented tennis player who has won four consecutive victories at the JR. tournament in the U.S., is summoned back to Japan by his father, Nanjiro Echizen, who was once a tennis sensation, and enrolls in the tennis department of the middle school division of the prestigious school, the Junior Academy.
