Beijing University of Technology ranks 57th among national undergraduate colleges and universities in 2022.
Beijing University of Technology (BUT), founded in 1960, is a multidisciplinary municipal key university focusing on engineering and combining engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art, and education.In 1981, it became the first batch of master's degree-granting units approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and became a doctoral degree-granting unit in 1985, and passed the prequalification of the national "211 project" in 1996, officially crossing into the national key universities of the 21st century. In 1996, it passed the pre-trial of the national "211 project" and officially entered the ranks of the 100 universities that the country will focus on building in the 21st century.
In September 2017, the university officially entered the ranks of national first-class discipline construction universities, eight disciplines among the top 500 of the 2020 QS World University Rankings, ranked 32nd in the QS 2020 World University Rankings in mainland China, and six disciplines of engineering, materials science, chemistry, environmental science and ecology, computer science, biology and biochemistry in the top 1% of the ESI.
Teaching Construction:
The university has 17 teaching and research institutes; 72 undergraduate majors; postgraduate majors covering 34 disciplines (including 1 self-established cross-discipline), and 18 professional degree categories; 20 doctoral degree-authorized first-level disciplines; 33 master's degree-authorized first-level disciplines, and 1 self-established cross-discipline; 1 doctoral degree-authorized first-level discipline; and 1 self-established cross-discipline; 20 doctoral degree-authorized first-level disciplines. There are 20 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degree, 33 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degree, and 1 cross-discipline; 4 authorized categories for doctoral degree and 18 authorized categories for master's degree; and 18 postdoctoral mobile stations with 293 persons on the stations.
