In 2005, when liangping county Forestry Bureau and Town Forestry Station investigated rare forest resources in Zhushan Town, they found a large number of very rare plants along the river in Anfeng and Zheng Zhi villages. It was identified by experts from Chongqing Forestry Department as Cephalotaxus fortunei, which distributed in Zhongshan to subtropical low mountain area of China. Experts believe that the large-scale appearance of wild Cephalotaxus indicates that the plant may have been widely distributed in Liangping, which is of scientific significance for studying the ancient flora and systematic classification of Cephalotaxus, as well as its origin, distribution and medicinal value. Liangping county will establish a nature reserve and take measures to protect this plant.
Discovery of Cephalotaxus fortunei in Xiushui

Cephalotaxus fortunei is scattered in the evergreen broad-leaved forest at an altitude of 473 meters, covering an area of 2 mu, *** 105 plants, 5 meters high and 40 centimeters high. The largest Cephalotaxus fortunei has a bust of 0.5m, a height of 5m, an average crown of 8m, and a tree age of 200 years. The discovery of this plant is of scientific significance to further study the ancient flora and systematic classification of Cephalotaxus in Chenshan forest area of Anfu. The forestry department of this county has listed this natural Cephalotaxus fortunei in the mountain field as an ecological public welfare forest. According to the principle of territorial management, the responsible units and persons for management and protection are clearly defined, and methods such as cataloging, filing data and positioning with GPS satellite positioning instrument are also adopted for key protection.
