The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) is the Nigerian government agency responsible for setting and enforcing standards for the quality of imported goods and domestically manufactured products. In order to ensure that regulated products comply with the approved implementation of the country's technical standards or other international standards, to protect Nigerian consumers from unsafe products or products that do not meet the standards, the Nigerian National Bureau of Standards has decided to export to the country's regulated products to the implementation of pre-shipment conformity assessment program (Standard Organization of Nigeria) Conformity Assessment Program (SONCAP) for controlled products exported to the country. CCIC is currently authorized by the Nigerian Bureau of Standards to implement SONCAP worldwide.
All products are under the SONCAP control except:
Foodstuffs Pharmaceuticals Medical Supplies (except medical equipment and machinery) Chemicals used as raw materials Military goods and equipment Goods embargoed by the Federal Government of Nigeria Used products (except second-hand automobiles)
The SONCAP control is not applicable to all products, but only to those that are not subject to SONCAP.
SONCAP CERTIFICATE = PC (i.e. Product Certificate) + SC (SONCAP CERTIFICATE)
To do this certificate, you need to apply for a PC at our CCIC, the importer gets the PC and applies for a FORM M at the bank in the place of importation, and then applies for a SONCAP CERTIFICATE (SC) on this side before you ship the product. SONCAP certificate (SC), can be used directly for customs clearance.
