Tearing down the Mijia rechargeable desk lamp to find out, the magically modified wireless charging function had to be given up

The Mijia rechargeable desk lamp has been on the market for a long time. It is smaller than previous products. Although there is nothing particularly outstanding, it is a good choice to buy one to put at the bedside due to its simple appearance and solid workmanship.

At present, desk lamps are not strictly necessary at home, but we all need some small items to decorate our lives. In addition to lighting and decorative functions, it would be better if they could have some practical additional functions. For example, the large disc at the base of the desk lamp can be used as a wireless charger. I've been looking for a product like this, but there aren't many that are what I thought, and the few that are are either too ugly or too expensive. Therefore, I had to buy this Mijia rechargeable desk lamp with a glimmer of hope to transform it into the ideal product.

The whole thing is pure white and is composed of simple geometric shapes, but the carefully designed combination angle is just right, so it will look good, neither dull nor weird.

There is a "multi-function power button" on the base. In addition to the switch function, this button also plays the role of adjusting the light mode. The specific operation method is: short press to turn on the light, long press Cycle through three light modes. However, this switch is similar to a mouse button and should not be pressed for a long time.

Peel off the bottom rubber strip and you will find four hexagon socket screws with commonly used specifications. It is easy to find the tools to remove them.

After removing all the rubber strips, you can see that in addition to the four screw holes, there are two hollow posts. The screws can also be used as wall-mounted lights. In addition, there is a reset hole.

Remove the bottom plate, which is a heavy stamped iron plate. The surface texture is spray-painted and has a good texture. The entire table lamp can stand stably because of the weight of this large iron plate.

Inside the base are a battery, a switch board, and a reset board. The charging interface on the reset board is a very common Micro-USB, and the wire used looks good, with a translucent outer covering, and the core inside looks thick enough.

Let’s take a close-up of the electromagnet. It is manufactured by Guangzhou Penghui Energy and was produced in July last year. I hope it won’t be popular too early.

The magic modification plan is like this. Install a wireless charging coil under the battery. Although the thickness of the coil, magnetic shielding, heat dissipation and other issues have been taken into consideration, it feels like there will be no room left. As for the charging circuit board The ports and ports can be made very small, and they can always be inserted somewhere, and there will always be a squeeze. And before buying, I also read the promotional pictures on the website.

But it backfired. After taking it apart, I found that not only was there no space above and below the battery, but the width on the left and right was not enough. It was difficult to find such a small coil. If you force it to be changed, you will have to replace it with a thinner battery and cut off part of the ribs. If the old one you bought at a bargain price is fine, you really can't buy a new one.

Since it cannot be magically modified, just use it as an ordinary small desk lamp. It supports three-stop light mode and has a lot of adjustment methods, which is suitable for both study and work.

This large chassis can be used as a display stand to place some small items, and it looks good when taking photos and showing them. For example, the picture above is a souvenir of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bauhaus, the birthplace of modern design, a USB flash drive.

The 16G 1.8-inch small hard drive I used when I was young.

The Kinder Wonder Egg model picked up downstairs.

Pendant made of old blue and white porcelain pieces.

The following is a look at the effects of three color temperatures when placed on a bookcase.

Full white light, color temperature is 4500K, luminous flux is 100lm.

Neutral light, color temperature 3200K, luminous flux 60lm.

The darkest light, color temperature is 2600K, luminous flux is 10lm.

Although the magic modification plan failed to come true, I still can’t put it down for this little desk lamp. The biggest advantage I found after using it is that it comes with its own battery and does not need to use a main wire to find a power source. It's basically a flashlight with a base.

When I evaluate a product, I generally focus on three points, such as function, style, and price. It is not easy to achieve excellence in all three points. It requires careful design and the support of a strong supply chain.

For this small table lamp, the function is basically satisfactory, the shape is beautiful enough, and the price is slightly expensive at 79.

Although I am not particularly superstitious about Mijia products, there are currently many small appliances from Mijia at home, such as instant hot water dispensers, rice cookers, hot water kettles, second-second thermometers, etc. Objectively speaking, in addition to the brand and channel advantages, the success of Mijia's products is also remarkable internally. If simple things are carefully designed, they will go from non-existent to exquisite to eye-catching.

I hope to continue to release a Pro version with wireless charging and replace it with a type-c port. It will have more functions, which will stop my thoughts of magic modification.
