Juntian University was founded in 1838 by Sato Tairan. This Chinese-flavored name is taken from the "Book of Changes" "Submit to heaven and respond to people" and Mencius' "Those who obey nature will survive, and those who go against nature will perish." , that is, the idea that people should respect nature and be in harmony with nature. The emblem of the hospital uses the image of the word "Benevolence". This place became the education center of Western medicine in Japan at that time. It can be said that the spread and development of Western medicine in Japan are inseparable from Juntendo. Juntendo's ancestors were keen on education. In addition to running the hospital, Nao took the lead in the establishment of many universities such as Tokyo Medical University and Women's University of Art and Design. The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tokyo was also founded by Sato Naonaka, Juntendo's third-generation master. When the Faculty of Medicine was formally established, 20 of the 22 professors were from Juntang. As a result, basic research was conducted at Tokyo University and clinical research was conducted at Juntang. A century and a half later, Suntang University has become a comprehensive university focusing on medicine. It is unique in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and management, and has many things to learn from.
Walking into Soontang Hospital, the clean, comfortable and elegant environment is pleasing to the eye. In fact, it is not only beautiful but also practical. The electronic management system realizes medical data informatization, improves efficiency, and facilitates patients; the divisions of clinical functional units are constantly rationalized, both subdivided and comprehensive. In addition to the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment department, related departments are nearby, such as digestion. Internal medicine and digestive surgery, and establishing a "multidisciplinary treatment system" to facilitate the treatment of patients with complex conditions; introducing or jointly developing a new generation of medical instruments with relevant manufacturers, such as nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and many other diagnostic and treatment instruments are mostly promoted here: Services The enthusiasm and meticulousness, especially the quality of care, are well-known. Patients are entrusted to the hospital, and their treatment and life are fully taken care of by the hospital, so that family members can rest assured and save effort. All patients, whether celebrities, politicians or ordinary people, enjoy high-quality medical services, so it is welcomed by people from all walks of life. It is not difficult to understand that despite the general deficit in Japanese hospitals, Juntendo always maintains a large black-letter operation. The clinical practice is unique and the research is no less impressive.
The headquarters of Juntendo University, located in the center of Tokyo, is not large, and the space for research is even more limited. Therefore, they worked hard to improve efficiency and established a joint research department in the basic research department. Places, such as central machinery, hospital biochemistry, and pathology, are used by various departments to maximize the effectiveness of limited space, equipment and funds. The crowded and small space has produced many world-leading research results. For example, research on immunology led by Mr. Yasushi Okumura and biochemistry led by Mr. Hideki Kinami have made outstanding achievements. In particular, the large-scale "Allergic Disease Research Center" and "Geriatric Disease Research Center" established under the leadership of Mr. Ogawa Hidehiro in recent years have received huge funding from his government and are becoming research centers in Japan and the world.
The administrative structure of Suntendo University can be described as streamlined. There is only one president and no vice president. The leaders of various departments, including the president, are basically held concurrently by department professors. Logistics is completely socialized, and benefits are reflected in currency. For employees, Shuntian is just a workplace, and life problems are solved by themselves. In this way, the content of management is relatively concentrated and simple, which is the affairs of production departments such as medicine, science, and education, so the administration is small and efficient.
An open recruitment system is adopted for the selection of professors. Inbreeding is not practiced in the construction of the teaching team, and there is no distinction between schools. The eclectic academic environment not only ensures its leading medical level, but also improves the quality of teaching, making it a medical graduate. The medical license qualification rate of students has always been among the best. There are also a group of insightful people in this team who promote Sino-Japanese friendship.
Shuntian’s predecessors actively participated in the establishment of the Japan-China Medical Association, the main organization for Sino-Japanese medical exchanges. The story chairman, Mr. Katsumi Katsuta, once served as the third president of the association and is now Mr. Akira Nakajima, the chairman of the association, is also the former professor of ophthalmology at Juntendo; Hidehiro Ogawa’s grandfather is a supporter of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. His father, Mr. Naohide Ogawa, once served as a professor at Peking University School of Medicine and the first president of the Japan-China Medical Association. Utsunomiya Touma was a school friend of Guo Moruo. After returning to Japan, they devoted themselves to Sino-Japanese friendship for a long time. They resisted pressure from the right wing and did a lot of work to normalize diplomatic relations between China and Japan. They were highly praised by Mr. Guo Moruo. They were still at Peking University Medical School during his lifetime. Established the "Ogawa Scholarship" and left a will, instructing Mr. Hidehiro to continue to increase scholarships and further promote Sino-Japanese friendship.
It can be seen that Sunten’s concept of respecting nature, the innovative spirit of excellence, scientific management methods and the concept of attaching importance to Sino-Japanese friendship have been passed down from generation to generation. I believe that these will be further carried forward and enriched during the tenure of President Ogawa. .
