We are very concerned and worried about the epidemic in African countries. We have actively participated in the anti-epidemic cooperation with Africa and provided assistance to African countries to the best of our ability. First, we have played the role of our foreign aid medical team to assist African countries in controlling the epidemic. We have a 57-year history of dispatching foreign aid medical teams to African countries, and nearly 1,000 medical personnel have been working in Africa for a long time. After the outbreak of Xinguancangpneumonia, we have guided our medical teams to support the countries in which they are stationed to carry out prevention and control of the epidemic, and up to now we have carried out more than 250 training and health education activities of various kinds, training more than 10,000 people, and issued more than 800 multilingual bulletins and prevention and control guides, which cover the general public of Africa and our Chinese overseas Chinese in Africa, and have achieved very positive results. For example, our medical teams have carried out training in local hospitals to enhance the capacity of local medical personnel in early identification and diagnosis of epidemics and clinical treatment, and they have also established a communication mechanism with the health departments of the above countries and the local representative agencies of the World Health Organization. Our medical team assisted the Ethiopian Ministry of Health in completing the commissioning of equipment for PCR testing reagents for the new coronavirus, making Ethiopia the second country in Africa besides South Africa to have the ability to test nucleic acid for the new coronavirus.
The second is to carry out expert exchanges, set up a remote expert guidance team in China, and carry out technical exchanges with 54 countries in Africa by holding remote videoconferences, so as to provide technical support to African countries in a timely manner, and to ensure that these countries can obtain support from our high-quality medical resources.
We also support the African CDC to play a role in the prevention and control of epidemics, and our long-term advisers to the African CDC have participated in the CDC's task force to deal with epidemics, and have been involved in the prevention and control of epidemics on the front line and provided a large number of valuable suggestions. African countries have said that China's experience is an important reference for them and have expressed their gratitude for China's support. We will continue to provide support to African countries to the best of our ability according to their needs, to help them enhance their ability to deal with the new crown epidemic, and also make our contribution to global health security.
