What is JCI certification? In China, this seems to be a relatively unfamiliar term. As we all know, in China, tertiary hospitals represent a kind of medical authority. However, looking around the world, JCI standards are the world-recognized medical service standards, representing the highest level of hospital services and hospital management. It is reported that JCI has provided guidance and review to public and private medical and health institutions and government departments in more than 100 countries around the world. Various hospitals across the country are also actively preparing and constantly striving to obtain JCI certification. However, due to the extremely stringent standards of JCI certification, according to incomplete statistics, there are about 20,000 hospitals in China, and currently only 18 hospitals have passed the JCI assessment, with a pass rate of only about 5 out of 10,000.
In January 2013, Friendship Plastic Surgery Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University officially passed the strict review of the JCI expert group, becoming the first hospital following the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shaw Hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University, and It is another famous third-level affiliated hospital that has passed the certification after Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University in Shanghai, and it is the only plastic surgery hospital in China certified by JCI.
