The difference lies in the duplication checking systems used.
1. Authoritative. Most schools and magazines are CNKIs and are widely used, so their authority is quite high. It can be said that CNKI is currently the most authoritative duplication checking system in China. Wanfang is not as popular as CNKI, but Wanfang is also good and very authoritative. It’s just that fewer students will use it than CNKI.
2. Detection algorithm. CNKI is a self-developed multi-stage rapid detection method based on digital fingerprints. User-submitted papers are compared against data fingerprints in the database, from words to sentences to paragraphs to entire papers. Wanfang is a self-developed low-frequency feature partial matching algorithm based on sliding windows that can quickly detect papers submitted by users. Each has its own characteristics.
3. Database. The database resources included in CNKI are numerous, comprehensive, and extremely extensive. It also includes its own unique database resources, such as the joint comparison database of academic papers and the joint comparison database of college student papers. Wanfang contains a large number of database resources, but fewer than CNKI. This is one of the reasons why Wanfang duplicate checking is faster than CNKI.
4. Check the price. CNKI duplication check is based on the number of articles, usually several hundred yuan, and different CNKI subsystems correspond to different prices; Wanfang test papers are based on the number of words. The current price is 3 yuan per thousand words, which is cheaper than CNKI.
