Restrictions on carrying liquids on civil aviation aircraft

(1) 1 liter of liquids per person on domestic flights

Passengers travelling on domestic flights can carry no more than a total of 1 liter of liquid per person per carry-on, and bottles will need to be opened and inspected during the security check. Alcohol and excess liquid items must be checked in.

(2)100 milliliters of liquid articles per person on international and regional flights

Passengers on international and regional flights originating from airports in China may not carry more than 100 milliliters (ml) of liquid articles per person. Containers for liquid articles should be placed in transparent resealable plastic bags with a maximum volume of not more than 1 liter (L). Each passenger is allowed to carry only one transparent plastic bag at a time, and the excess should be handed over. Transparent plastic bags containing liquids should be subject to separate security checks. Passengers on international and regional flights originating from airports in China who need to change planes at overseas airports should keep the proof of purchase for inspection if they purchase liquid articles at the duty-free store in the terminal building or on board the airplane. The purchased items should be placed in sealed transparent plastic bags and should not be unsealed. If foreign airports have special regulations on the carrying of duty-free liquids, these regulations shall apply. Passengers from abroad who need to transfer to international or regional flights at airports in China and carry liquid goods shall be subject to the provisions of this Article. The duty-free liquid articles brought into the country shall be placed in transparent plastic bags with intact and sealed bodies, and must be presented with proof of purchase.

(3) Perfume, toothpaste and shaving foam are restricted

When passengers take international and regional flights, creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, deodorant sprays, mousses and other cosmetic products for women, and shaving foams for men are all subject to restriction, as well as toothpastes and contact lens preparations for daily use. In addition, any solutions and items of similar consistency need to be inspected. These restricted items must be packaged and placed in containers with a capacity of no more than 100 ml and must be placed in a 20 cm x 20 cm transparent plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 liter and a resealable seal. Each passenger is allowed to carry only one transparent plastic bag at a time. Generally, a 1-liter plastic bag can hold five 100-milliliter containers.

(4) Transparent plastic bags need to be checked separately

Travelers need to take out the transparent plastic bags for placing liquids separately before passing through the security check and check them separately from hand luggage. If the plastic bags and containers through the inspection do not meet the standards, travelers must again for check-in, or only in the security checkpoint to give up on their own.

(5) medicines with a prescription can be exempted

(6) Baby food must travel with infants

Passengers with infants traveling with them can carry milk, juice and liquid food for infants after confirmation by security check, and there is no restriction on the amount of baby milk powder. Passengers can buy water in the store after passing the security check, or use the drinking water provided on the plane to make food for their babies.
