The School of Transportation, which was founded in 1982 and formerly known as the Department of Road Transportation Management, is an important support for Chongqing Jiaotong University's long history of running the school and the school's transportation characteristics. At present, it has a complete talent training system from undergraduate and graduate students to postdoctoral students. Now there is one postdoctoral station of transportation engineering, one doctoral and master's degree authorization point for the first discipline of transportation engineering, three doctoral and master's degree authorization points for the second discipline, and one master's degree authorization point for the first discipline of professional degree; and five undergraduate majors of transportation, traffic engineering, traffic equipment and control engineering, traffic management, and automobile service engineering. The college has one key discipline in Chongqing, one first-class discipline in Chongqing, three key laboratories in Chongqing, one experimental teaching demonstration center in Chongqing, and one "intelligent transportation" space in Chongqing. The college is "China's top ten innovative brand of logistics teaching institutions" and "national transportation and logistics institutions teaching demonstration base".
The college has 82 staff members, including 61 full-time teachers, 7 experimental teachers, 6 full-time political counselors, and 8 managers. There are 22 professors, 23 associate professors, 5 doctoral supervisors, 37 people with doctoral degrees. The college has strong research capabilities in the fields of transportation system planning, traffic management and control, mountain road traffic flow theory and application, traffic information system, traffic environment engineering, intelligent transportation system, vehicle energy saving and pollution control, traffic and vehicle safety. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects, including the National 863 Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, and its achievements have won more than 10 national and provincial science and technology awards. A number of high-level scientific research results have been adopted, providing strong support for the development of the industry.
