I admire you in the disaster will have such a sense of responsibility and courage to do such a thing, I suggest that you and the local Red Cross contact, specific reference can be made to the model of the year 512 first roughly understand:
1, the disaster area is currently receiving volunteers. However, the disaster area is currently only accepting the following qualified volunteers:
-- Male: adult, healthy, without any trauma on the body surface, no current colds and fevers and other diseases, and able to comply with the management;
-- Female: adult, medical rescue First aid professionals, pharmacists and similar professionals (it is preferable to hold a certificate to shorten the registration time, but the certificate is not available at the moment does not affect the participation in the rescue), and able to obey the management.
Volunteers other than those in the above two categories are currently asked to standby at your current location, where you can engage in the procurement of much-needed supplies for the disaster area and support the frontline rescue efforts from the rear. If you go to the disaster area rashly without qualified volunteers, it will bring danger to your life and safety, and seriously affect the rescue work in the disaster area. Please remember not to come if you are not qualified volunteers!
Additionally, volunteers should make sure to seek the consent of their loved ones, so as not to let them worry about you!
2, how to register qualified volunteers from all over the country, how to go to the disaster area, how to register
All qualified volunteers should go to Chengdu on their own, and then register at the Chengdu Red Cross upon arrival in Chengdu, and then be assigned to go to the disaster area.
At present, Chengdu Shuangliu Airport has been opened to civil aircraft, and most of them can take off and land (some flights are restricted); Chengdu Railway Station is open normally (some directions are restricted); Chengdu Bus Station is basically open normally.
Volunteers from all over the country can travel to Chengdu by public transportation, or arrive in Chongqing and travel to Chengdu via the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, which is now fully open and under key protection.
After arriving in Chengdu, all qualified volunteers should go to Chengdu Red Cross at No.17 Daci Temple, Chengdu. (Free transportation to the city is available for purchasing Sichuan Airlines tickets with a 50% discount or more, you can ask the driver to go directly to the above address)
Here the Red Cross staff will register each volunteer according to his/her profile. Each volunteer will register the following: name, cell phone or SCT, professional skills profile, ID card number, and home contact phone number.
The completion of the registration means that your enrollment has been completed, and then the staff of the Red Cross will contact the fleet to send you quickly to the various disaster areas for relief.
3, volunteers will go to which disaster areas to rescue, what rescue work
Currently, including the epicenter of Wenchuan, Beichuan, Medanzhu, Maoxian, Shifang City, Dujiangyan and other places have been volunteers to enter the city, before you complete the registration, we can not confirm that you can go to where. However, all qualified volunteers will have the opportunity to enter the disaster area to carry out relief work.
Volunteers, under the guidance of professionals, can enter the disaster areas to find survivors, rescue, treat and care for them, maintain order, distribute supplies, and reassure the victims, among other relief activities. Qualified volunteers will play an important role in relief activities.
Please note that not every volunteer will necessarily be able to enter the front line of the disaster area, and you may only be able to stay in Chengdu to do some work. You should remain calm when you are full of enthusiasm.
4. What volunteers going to the disaster area should bring
--Personal items: spare change of clothes, focus on your shoes and socks, gloves and masks (essential, all need more than one in order to be ready to change), dress recommended long clothes and long pants in order to avoid mosquito bites, sleeping bags and tents (as far as possible, but not necessary!)
Please note that not every volunteer will necessarily be able to go to the front line of the disaster area, perhaps you can only stay in Chengdu to do some work. )
--Food and water: You need to bring enough food and water as much as possible to ensure that you are in the disaster area during the rescue period, and does not take up the resources of the disaster area. The supply of tap water in Chengdu city is basically normal, and there are restrictions on the purchase of pure water. Compressed cookies are recommended for personal food and are available in supermarkets around the country.
--Basic medicines: antibiotics (penicillin, amoxicillin, roxithromycin), Yunnan Baiyao, norfloxacin, gastrointestinal drugs, painkillers, band-aids, bandages, gauze, cotton, alcohol (prohibited by the plane), disinfectant, iodine and other commonly used medicines; the above basic medicines do not need to be equipped, as far as possible, can be carried.
--Sanitary facilities: towels, cups of water, umbrellas or raincoats, sturdy thick garbage bags (used to deal with your feces and excretions, due to the poor sanitation in the disaster area, the feces of the personnel may become a source of contamination, and therefore recommended bagged and sealed)
5. Expenses and accommodation
All expenses are to be Volunteers are responsible for their own expenses and we are unable to provide any subsidies at this time.
Basic costs include travel, accommodation and meals. Travel costs are determined by the mode of transportation from your location to Chengdu, and you can log on to websites such as Ctrip, E-Long, and YuiYi to check airfares, or call the train station and bus station in your location to check for bus tickets.
Since some volunteers arrive late in Chengdu, they will need to find their own accommodation. Chengdu has ample choices of business and economy hotels or small hostels, with more than adequate options under 200 RMB per night for a standard room.
Meals in Chengdu are inexpensive, with fast food such as noodles and rice noodles costing less than 10 RMB in most small restaurants.
Additionally, you'll need to consider the cost of taxis, cell phones (be sure to top them up before you leave), and so on.
6, the disaster area in urgent need of a variety of materials and transportation methods (the conditions of the region, please try to produce procurement)
- medical supplies: including but not limited to a variety of medical and surgical instruments, alcohol, iodine, red potion, purple potion, medical cotton, gauze, tourniquet bandages, antibiotics, disinfection and sterilization drugs, Disinfectant water, acute infectious disease prevention and treatment medicines, first aid kits
--Living supplies: tents, sleeping bags, convenient food, bottled or bucket drinking water, gloves, masks, towels, cups, quilts, bed sheets, basic clothing for adults and children
The above two types of supplies are extremely scarce in the various hard-hit areas, and we are urgently looking for Manufacturers and volunteers from all over the country are urgently looking for help in purchasing these items.
The above supplies are currently transported through unstable logistics channels, so we hope that manufacturers and volunteers with the means to do so will organize fleets of vehicles and transport them directly to the Chengdu Red Cross by road.
At present, governments around the world are exempting road tolls and opening emergency green lanes for convoys of relief supplies. The convoys do not necessarily require large trucks, but car clubs around the world can use your cars to form convoys to transport much-needed supplies to the disaster areas.
We can't thank you enough for the donations of various supplies!
7. Rescue time
-Rescue time can be long or short, the Red Cross will never force volunteers to serve for a long period of time, and volunteers need not worry about the service time.
--With the basic access roads to the disaster areas being opened up by the PLA and the armed police forces, there will be a peak of rescue in the coming period.
--Rescue activities will continue for a long time as they are not limited to rescuing survivors from the rubble, but also include continuous medical treatment, nursing care, restoration of hygiene in the affected areas, and psychological counseling for the victims.
8. Responsibility
The Chengdu Red Cross is not currently obligated to provide a legal guarantee for the personal safety of any volunteer. Every volunteer who participates in the registration means that he/she is responsible for his/her own safety. Therefore, we solemnly remind all enthusiastic volunteers: please put your sanity in the first place at all times, and protect yourself so that you can better save others.
We, Nanjing Volunteer Rescue Team, do not take the responsibility of a large organization, but we will facilitate the communication between the national volunteers and Chengdu Red Cross, and together with our volunteers in Chengdu, we will facilitate the connection of the volunteers who come to Chengdu.
9. Organization of volunteers from all over the world and their companionship
At present, volunteers from all over the world would like to travel to Chengdu with a local companion, and we encourage this behavior. However, we don't want to cause delays in finding companions. The disaster area is in need of help every minute of every day.
Volunteers from all over the world are advised to contact their friends, classmates, and coworkers first and try to get them to join them. Volunteers from all over the world can look for local companions through QQ groups.
