Similarities and differences between nurses and CRC occupations

CRC, are you ready to enter the business?

The vast majority of CRC switched to nurses or came from the nursing profession. Some people switched from nurses to do CRC, and some people tried CRC and then went back to be nurses. Whether it is better to be a nurse or a CRC has become an open question.

Let's analyze the job characteristics of nurses and CRC.

Let's talk about nurses first. The profession of nurse originated in modern times, and florence nightingale was the first nurse in modern times in a strict sense. The purpose of nurses' work is to assist doctors, carry out doctors' orders and care for patients, so I won't go into details for the time being. Nurses' jobs can be divided into two categories: one is shift nurses in public hospitals above the second level. Their job characteristics are three shifts in the morning, three shifts in the middle of the night and two shifts in the white night. In short, they have to work at night. Work is characterized by high work pressure, frequent accidents and extremely tiring night shifts. However, the working environment of nurses is single and the staff is stable. If nothing happens, decades of work will not change a few colleagues. Most hospitals have better treatment and higher security after retirement. There is also a class of nurses who don't need to work night shifts, such as outpatient nurses, township clinic nurses and private enterprise nurses. Although they don't need to work at night, there is a large turnover of people in the industry and their salary is not high, and their professional competitiveness weakens with their age. I think everyone is familiar with the job characteristics of nurses.

Next, let's talk about the little-known CRC profession. The purpose of CRC is to assist researchers, coordinate clinical trials and manage patients. The working characteristics of CRC can be described from the following seven aspects:

One: the working place of China Resources. The working place of CRC is a local 3A hospital which is qualified to carry out clinical trials. We call it the center. The working environment of CRC changes with the clinical trial project, and CRC appears in the hospitals and departments where the project is located. Usually, a CRC is responsible for more than one project. If the project is distributed in several centers and departments, CRC needs to arrange itself to appear in the right department at the right time. If the departments where several CRC projects are located are not in the same campus, or the departments where the projects are located and the ethical institutions are not in the same campus, CRC will often travel to and from two campuses. Fortunately, most companies arrange multiple projects for China Resources in the same city.

Second, the working environment of China Resources. The working environment of China Resources depends entirely on the department where the project is located. The Resource Center works in the same environment provided by the Department. Some centers will have special CRC offices, some departments will provide special clinical trial offices, some departments will arrange CRC in doctors' offices, some departments will arrange CRC in demonstration classrooms, and some departments can only provide CRC with corridors that can't even put out a folding table. As a CRC, you need to adapt to any environment.

Third: a sense of belonging to China Resources. Most China Resources have no sense of belonging to their own companies. The working form of China Resources is similar to labor dispatch, because the working environment is not fixed with the project. In some smaller cities, or centers or departments with few clinical trials, many CRC don't see their colleagues several times a year, and attend the annual meeting of the company every year, which is more like attending the offline annual meeting of large netizens. We may get along with CRC of other companies with projects in the same department, and sometimes we may meet more cooperative research teams.

Iv. Partners of China Resources, or contact persons participating in the project. There will be a lot of contact with China Resources. At the central level, we need to contact the GCP office and ethics Committee in the center where the project is located. Researchers, research nurses, drug managers, image evaluation researchers, CD-ROM teachers, pathological section teachers, other doctors in the department, nurses in charge of cleaning, patients and other departments involved in this project are all authorized to participate in this clinical trial. The farthest time, I came into contact with the purchasing department of the hospital responsible for purchasing medical equipment. As far as the project level is concerned, we need to contact the members of our company's project team, the applicant's CRA or CRO DM for data entry, and the applicant to promote the recruitment of the group. As far as the company is concerned, we need to contact the personnel management, team assistant, finance, HR and other departments of the company, which is a test of CRC's communication and coordination ability. We should not only communicate and coordinate multiple projects in one or more centers, but also coordinate all aspects of a project and the company's requirements for employees.

Five: China Resources' salary. This is probably the point that everyone is most concerned about. The salary of China Resources is different. China Resources should not only sign confidentiality agreements for each project, but also sign confidentiality agreements for wages and benefits. For people who come out of public hospitals, this may be the most incomprehensible, because public hospitals are almost completely open to wages and benefits from employment to retirement. I once read an article to the effect that some companies require salary secrecy because there is no scientific salary system, and it is impossible to achieve internal and external fairness and ensure the competitiveness of their own company's salary in the industry. I think this makes some sense, but this is the status quo of the industry. When you have no ability to change, you choose to follow or leave. Compared with other occupations related to clinical trials, the salary of CRC is average and the starting salary is not high. Each company has its own salary system and calculation method, and each company's salary system and development model have its own characteristics, depending on which company's salary system and development concept are more in line with your expectations. If you expect a company with medium and high salary and small workload, you must give up part of the height of future career development. If you expect a higher and farther platform, you must consciously give up some immediate interests. This is your own choice, and others can't control it.

The intransitive verb China Resources Industrial Development. CRC industry is expanding rapidly, or the clinical trial industry is in a period of rapid development. There is no doubt that clinical trials will occupy a place in the future medical field. With the further standardization of clinical trials by national laws and regulations, the requirements of CRC in clinical trials will be higher and higher. With the strengthening of CRC management in hospitals, the CRC market will become more and more standardized in the future. One day, this profession will be as widely known as nurses, and one day, the quality management standard of drug clinical trials will become an important subject like nursing. This profession was almost unknown three years ago, and now it has become the first choice for nursing graduates and on-the-job nurses to change careers.

Seven: the personnel flow of China Resources. I have to admit that CRC is unstable compared with nurses. This is also an important reason why a considerable number of nurses have turned to wait-and-see attitude. The profession of CRC is somewhat mysterious to outsiders. People are not only surprised by the harsh attitude of this industry towards newcomers, but also lament that experienced China Resources is highly mobile. So why is an experienced CRC always unstable in a company? Is it because so many people are unstable? You know it's not. People in the medical profession are probably the most stable group in the public occupation. Joining a hospital, if not for objective reasons, we are ready to retire from the moment we join the hospital. There are various subjective or objective reasons why we choose to leave. Because of salary, because of development, because of occupation, because of work, because of life, because of various reasons, we are unstable, which has aroused your concern and is beyond reproach. This is the difference between a nurse and CRC.

CRC is very different from nursing specialty, and so is our job: nurses tend to have surgery, and CRC requires us more. This work requires us to have strong communication and coordination skills and adaptability, and the work involved is extremely complicated, which runs through almost the whole clinical trial, that is, independence and prudence. We don't directly participate in every link of the clinical trial, but fully control the whole clinical trial through the assistance and inspection of every link.

Someone once joked that the nursing profession is "selling cabbage with money and selling white powder". What about the CRC profession? We serve the medical industry, respect life, check repeatedly and be cautious.

Many people choose CRC as their career, but because they don't want to be nurses and work at night, there is no more reason. What I want to tell you is that no job is easy, and no job is to your liking. Crossing the bank is not an easy task. Now that you have chosen, do it seriously.
