Working principle of pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production device in air separation plant

Pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production (PSA nitrogen production for short) is an advanced gas separation equipment. Using high-quality carbon molecular sieve (CMS) as adsorbent, high-purity nitrogen was prepared at room temperature by pressure swing adsorption principle. The diffusion rates of oxygen and nitrogen on the surface of molecular sieve are different. The gas molecules with smaller diameter (O2) diffuse faster and more enter the micropores of carbon molecular sieve, while the molecules with larger diameter (N2) diffuse slower and less enter the micropores of carbon molecular sieve. Using this selective adsorption difference of carbon molecular sieve for nitrogen and oxygen, when compressed air passes through the carbon molecular sieve adsorption tower, oxygen is enriched in the adsorption phase and nitrogen is enriched in the gas phase, so that oxygen and nitrogen can be separated and nitrogen can be continuously produced under PSA conditions.
