Shanghai Mental Health Center was established in 1935, formerly known as Shanghai Puci Sanatorium, located in the southwest suburb of Shanghai (now Minhang District). It is funded by philanthropist Lu Bohong and managed by the church. It was one of the largest and most well-equipped mental hospitals in the Far East at that time. The hospital covers an area of about 100 mu, with a building area of about 30,000 square meters.
After decades of efforts, Shanghai Mental Health Center has now become a third-class first-class mental health hospital in Shanghai, undertaking tasks such as medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, rehabilitation, psychological consultation/treatment and academic exchanges with foreign countries. It is the largest mental health institution with the most comprehensive business types and leading disciplines in China.
Shanghai Mental Health Center has complete clinical departments and strong technical force, and mainly treats patients with various mental disorders such as schizophrenia, mood disorder, organic mental disorder, mental disorder of children, adolescents and the elderly, neurotic disorder and drug dependence.
The center has clinical departments such as general psychiatry and gerontology, rehabilitation, clinical psychology, child shortage, infection and voluntary detoxification. Approved beds 1878, and currently 2 14 1 bed are actually opened.
