Characteristics of Common Wires and Cables

Common wires and cables can be divided into three categories: electromagnetic wires, bare wires and power cables. Its characteristics are as follows:

1. Electromagnetic wire: it is a coil or winding used in motors, electrical appliances and electrical instruments, and has realized the electromagnetic energy conversion, also known as winding wire. According to the material, structure, heat resistance grade and use of insulation layer, it can be divided into four categories: enameled wire, wound wire, inorganic insulated electromagnetic wire and special electromagnetic wire.

① enameled wire: the paint film formed by coating insulating paint on the conductive wire core and drying is used as the insulating layer. Ordinary enameled wires can be divided into acetal, polyester, polyurethane, epoxy, polyesterimide, oily enameled wires, etc. Special enameled wires include self-adhesive direct welding enameled wires, self-adhesive enameled wires, refrigerant-resistant enameled wires, etc.

② wrapping electromagnetic wire, which is tightly wrapped on bare wire or enameled wire with insulating paper, glass wire, natural wire and synthetic wire. The electromagnetic wire forming an insulating layer is called wrapped electromagnetic wire. Include wire wrap, glass wire wrap, paper wire wrap, film wire wrap, etc.

③ inorganic insulated electromagnetic wire: it is an electromagnetic wire with inorganic insulating materials, such as ceramics, glass films and oxide films.

④ Special electromagnetic wire: it is an electromagnetic wire with insulation structure and characteristics suitable for special occasions, such as middle and high frequency winding wire, winding of submersible motor with polyethylene insulation and nylon sheath, etc.

2. bare wires: wires without insulation are called bare wires, also known as bare conductors. It is the most basic category of wire and cable products. According to the different shapes, structures and uses of the products, they are divided into four series: round single wire, overhead stranded wire, flexible wiring and profile wire.

① round single wire: also called round wire, it is a round single wire. Materials are divided into single metal wire, round aluminum wire, round copper alloy wire, aluminum alloy wire, bimetal wire, copper-clad steel wire and aluminum-clad steel wire. Round single wires can be used alone or as stranded wires, and can be used as conductors of wires and cables, that is, to form various wire cores

② Stranded wires for overhead use: bare wires formed by twisting or embedding a plurality of round wires or profile wires. Bare wires can be made into large cross-section wires to transmit and distribute large current, and they are relatively soft and reliable, and are widely used in various transmission and distribution lines with voltages of 38 V ~ 33 kV and above. The main varieties are aluminum stranded wire, steel-core aluminum stranded wire, aluminum stranded wire, steel-core aluminum stranded wire, aluminum-clad steel stranded wire, expanded steel-aluminum stranded wire and hard copper stranded wire.

③ soft wiring: all soft copper stranded wires or various braided wires are called soft wiring. For various occasions requiring flexible connection. Including bare copper cord, bare copper antenna, copper brush wire and copper braided wire, etc.

④ wire: it is a kind of conductor with different geometric shapes, such as rectangle, trapezoid and gourd, to meet the requirements of wires, cables and electrical equipment components for different purposes. Including flat wire, bus bar, special-shaped bus bar and tram line and other products.

3. Power cables: cables used for transmission and distribution, called power cables. In cable technology, cables with a voltage level of 35kV and below are usually called medium and low voltage cables. The cable with voltage level of 1lOkV and above is called high voltage cable. Medium and low voltage power cables mainly include: plastic insulated power cables, rubber insulated power cables, etc. High voltage power cables include self-contained oil-filled cables and steel pipe oil-filled cables.

① plastic insulated power cables: including PVC insulated power cables (power cables with PVC insulation), PE insulated power cables (power cables with PE insulation), XLPE insulated power cables (power cables with XLPE insulation), etc.

② rubber-insulated power cable: the power cable with rubber insulation is rubber-insulated power cable. Including natural styrene-butadiene rubber insulated power cable, ethylene-propylene rubber insulated power cable, butyl rubber insulated power cable, etc. In addition, there are compressed gas insulated cables, low-temperature cables and superconducting cables.
