Why are there so many wineries in Gujing Town, Bozhou?

Because it is the origin of Gujing Gongju, one of the country's top ten famous wines. As the saying goes, when you live off the mountain, you live off the water, and when an industry in a region forms a large scale, it will lead to the development of the local economy!

As for water quality, Bozhou's ancient well water is really good, anyway, quite a lot of minerals! Here's another little legend

History once showed this picture. In 532 AD, the wind was blowing furiously and the horses were neighing. Northern Wei was trying to recapture Qiao Cheng (present-day Bozhou) and fought a deadly battle with Yuan Shu, a great general who was garrisoned by Southern Liang. Wei General Dugu Xin was ordered to fight. However, he failed miserably in the battlefield and threw his golden mace and halberd into a well near his camp before his death. Later, the water quality of this well changed a lot. The water in the nearby wells was salty and hard to drink, but only this well was refreshingly sweet. For thousands of years, the local people have been using the water from this well to make wine. Now the people of the ancient well, but also special in the above built "ancient well pavilion", "ancient well garden" to show the protection and commemoration.

In addition, the brewing process of Gujing is unique and the wine is very famous!

Also like Henan Nanyang people do more jade business, Bozhou do more business in the medicinal herbs, and Bozhou ancient wells are famous for wine, so do more wine business!
