Expanded information
The current situation of NICU
In the background of the comprehensive two-child policy, the proportion of high-risk women of advanced maternal age in China has increased, resulting in the number of critically ill newborns increasing, and the lack of neonatal emergency care professionals and equipment exists in many cities. At the same time, many primary hospitals are unable to provide timely and effective treatment for critically ill newborns due to the limitations of medical technology and resources. NICUs and neonatal ambulances are in short supply.
Taking Sichuan province as an example, there are more than 1,000 general hospitals in the province in 2016, but only 90 hospitals have NICUs, accounting for a very low percentage of the total.NICUs have been in a state of overload for a long time, and the utilization rate of the beds is more than 100 percent. Statistics from the Sichuan Provincial Health Planning Commission show that as of the end of June 2016, the number of critical neonatal treatment centers built in the province was only 206, of which the number of municipal (state) treatment centers was 42.
The current situation of NICU is that on the one hand, the number of rescue centers in China is insufficient, and on the other hand, it is still facing the embarrassment of insufficient capacity of grassroots rescue centers.
