Turkey's Main Exports

Textiles and raw materials, transportation equipment and electromechanical products are Turkey's main exports.

Exports accounted for 18.4%, 15.1% and 14.2% of Turkey's total exports, at $26.21 billion, $21.53 billion and $20.18 billion, respectively, with exports of transportation equipment increasing by 12.0%, and exports of textiles and raw materials and electromechanical products declining by 0.4% and 2.0%, respectively. In addition to mineral exports fell nearly 20%, most of the products export decline has narrowed, some products such as precious metals and products exports have resumed growth.

Turkey has the largest cultivation of wheat and barley, and cotton and tobacco are important export commodities. The narrow coastal region produces hazelnuts, small grapes without seeds, raisins and fruits (including citrus, lemons and melons), and also grows vegetables for foreign markets. Sheep, a few cattle, and goats are herded in pastures where grass grows year-round. Iron ore, coal, lignite, bauxite and copper provide raw materials for the country's important new industries. Turkey is a major producer of chromite ore, mostly for export.
