Xinghua is a city in Jiangsu Province and affiliated to Taizhou City. Xinghua City, a county-level city, is affiliated to Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. Xinghua, known as Zhaoyang in ancient times and also known as Chushui, has a long history. Cultural relics at the Nantang site prove that Xinghua was inhabited in the Neolithic Age more than 4,000 years ago. The establishment of Xinghua County began in 920 AD. In 920, the second year of Yangwu and Wuyi in the Five Dynasties, Zhaoyuanchang was located in the north of Hailing County and was soon changed to Xinghua County. In December 1987, Xinghua was removed from the county and established as a city. Xinghua City is located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, in the belly of the Helixia region. It reaches Dafeng and Dongtai in the east, Jiangyan and Jiangdu in the south, Gaoyou and Baoying in the west, and Duyan across the river in the north. The territory is low and flat with a dense network of rivers. The administrative area is 55 kilometers long from east to west and 55 kilometers wide from north to south. The total area is 2393.35 square kilometers, including 1949.65 square kilometers of land area and 443.7 square kilometers of water area. Xinghua City belongs to the northern subtropical humid monsoon climate zone. There is abundant rainfall and sunshine throughout the year, a warm climate, four distinct seasons, a long frost-free period, and rich climate resources.
