Three months everyone has done a lot of medical work. The whole team has been more than 8,000 outpatient visits, managed more than 2,500 hospitalizations, more than 1,000 surgeries, more than 100 times to rescue critically ill patients, more than 100 cases in the resident for the local Chinese, overseas Chinese to see a doctor. I have also performed Guyana's first breast-conserving intramammary papilloma resection, the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy using three holes, successfully used laparoscopy to remove the gallbladder during an acute gallbladder attack, and successfully rescued a patient with ruptured liver cancer who was in bleeding shock, a patient with a severe stabbing wound that resulted in a ruptured liver and ruptured common bile duct, five cases of stab wounds that resulted in splenic rupture and pneumothorax, and two cases of gunshot wounds that resulted in a ruptured spleen and a ruptured gastrointestinal tract combined with a ruptured gastrointestinal tract. rupture and gastrointestinal rupture combined with hemopneumothorax, and also managed nearly 100 patients with simple stab wounds resulting in hemopneumothorax. Chen Xiangyang performs hip replacements and a large number of traumatic fracture patients, operating three days a week until 4:00 pm. Du Wensheng also had a heavy workload, scheduling 7-9 major and minor surgeries on each surgical day, leading to anesthesiologist comments and often sitting in his 'clinic' until 2:30 pm. When Li Zhihua arrived, there were already a large number of patients waiting for surgery, and his surgery days were not over until 4:00 p.m. On the road, one could often run into a burn victim who had been cured and called out "chinese doctor" from a distance. Chen Lin continues to utilize the strengths of Chinese ophthalmologists, gradually increasing the number of cataract surgeries per day even though the use of microscopes is no longer an option. Chen Lei's anesthesia skills have also been recognized, and he is often assigned to perform anesthesia that local anesthesiologists are unable to do, such as anesthesia for infants, children, and critically ill patients. The arrival of Li Fengzhao has changed the "slow" practice of Georgetown Hospital's Department of Pathology, and the pathology reports have been completed in two days as in China, instead of two weeks. In addition to reading a large number of ct and x-ray films, Song Qiang gave lectures to the local imaging staff. Pan De Feng managed all the cardiac patients at Georgetown Hospital alone, and also gave lectures on ECG to the local young doctors. Wang Rujie continues to develop the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, with a large number of patients coming in every day, and is contributing to the recovery of Guyana's Minister of Landscape Architecture (who recently suffered a cerebral thrombosis, hemiplegia of the right side of the limbs), and has already achieved good results. In Linden: Chenyi Wang performed the first case in Linden to remove a large fibroid during a caesarean section, and manages a large number of patients in the gynecology and obstetrics departments of the Linden Hospital on his own. Jianhui Gu has a daily outpatient load of around 40, and due to the high level of diagnosis and treatment, there have even been instances of pediatric patients in Georgetown seeking him out. Chen Jinpeng also performed cholecystectomies and hernia surgeries under relatively poor conditions, while rescuing some critically ill patients. Qin Yibin, on the other hand, was in charge of the anesthesiology department at Linden Hospital and created good anesthesia conditions for surgeries at Linden Hospital. As we all wanted to do a better job, we had higher expectations. There are still quite a few differences in the concept of treatment between the local doctors and us, and the sense of responsibility is not the same, so there is bound to be friction, we will try to avoid friction, do a good job, and strive to do the first case for the hospital in Guyana, and make more contributions to the health of the Guyanese people.
After arriving in Guyana, in order to start the construction of the Linden team members of the new site as soon as possible, we try to coordinate with the Guyana Ministry of Health and the hospital's relationship. We hosted a banquet for the Minister, the Minister within the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, the Chief of Staff, and their secretaries, and for the hospital, we hosted the Director, his secretaries, and several surgeons. At each banquet, we introduced the two cities of Xuzhou and Nantong and the three hospitals to them through the slides we made, so that they could know more about us and China. We still get along very well, especially with the officials of the Ministry of Health. We have given various gifts to all of them, visited them several times or even dozens of times, especially the Minister and the Permanent Secretary and the Chief of Staff, all of them more than ten times respectively. At the same time, more than 20 of their relatives and friends have approached the medical team in the hope that we can give them medical treatment, and we have provided them with convenience and received their praise and thanks. Through our efforts, the Guyana Ministry of Health has agreed to Linden's proposal to build a house, and will plan a specific site for the house in the near future. A plan to send officials from the Guyana Ministry of Health to China for training has also been approved and the first list of personnel will be finalized in the near future.
On the issue of teamwork, we have bi-weekly team meetings when the Linden team members come over to summarize what has been done in the past two weeks and discuss what needs to be done in the next two weeks, and then regular team meetings based on the issues identified by the team committee. We have set up a system for buying food and water, a system for helping with cooking, a system for managing medicines, a system for managing daily necessities, a system for managing safety, a system for managing sports equipment, a system for managing magazines and dvds, and so on, and all of these systems have been implemented by a person who is responsible for them. Pan De Feng and Li Feng Chao played a great role in drafting and managing the team documents. After arriving, all the team members attended the ceremony of sending off the old team members and welcoming the new team members held by the Ministry of Health, the ceremony of sending off the old team members and welcoming the new team members held by the Embassy, the ceremony of sending off Ambassador Zhang, and the ceremony of raising and lowering the flag held by the Embassy. All the team members hosted a banquet in the resident place for Mr. and Mrs. Zhang, Mr. and Mrs. Huang, Mr. and Mrs. Fan, Mr. and Mrs. Yu, the leaders of the Embassy, and the leaders of the Panshin Forest Company. Through these activities, we enhanced the relationship with the embassy leaders and made them know more about our medical team. The members of the team went to Linden twice to inspect the address of the new site, visited Ambassador Zhang three times to report the situation of the new site and our work and life in Linden, and participated in the tea party before Ambassador Zhang's departure, participated in the activity of welcoming the new ambassador to the airport, and visited Chen Jinpeng, who suffered from a strained leg, in Linden. We have already discussed with the Embassy to arrange a medical checkup for the Embassy and the head of the Economic and Commercial Office during the National Day, and to arrange appropriate health care lectures for them according to the problems found in the medical checkup.
Regarding the life of the team members, we actively do a good job in the ideological work of the team members, so that we have a happy life concept. Every day and the chef to discuss the improvement of food, and now have to do every day meals are not the same, the organization has made three dumplings, four times the buns, Wang Zhenhe also made a cake, rolls, so that we can eat every day to eat well. In the past three months, Wang Zhenhe has done a lot of work through his own efforts, taking the initiative to change the dietary patterns, coordinating the different tastes of everyone, and contributing to the unity of the entire medical team and external contacts. We organized sports for everyone at 4:30 pm every day, including basketball and soccer. Sometimes went to the embassy to play tennis, table tennis and swimming. Billiards tournaments, poker tournaments were held. Immediately we are going to divide the team into three groups against soccer and basketball in order to increase the motivation of exercising and enhance the physical fitness of everyone. Now we are learning to swim with the help of Director Lai of the Embassy (most of the team members do not know how to swim yet), and learning to play bridge with the help of Counselor Fan. And together with the Embassy, we are preparing to hold a table tennis tournament during the National Day to enrich our spare time. We also organized a group trip to Linden Resident and a visit to the forest farm, and an outing and barbecue with the staff of Cedar Grove to flash min (the Chinese call it Blackwater River). I hope that through a series of activities to reduce the feeling of homesickness.
Three months have passed, in the next three months we will continue to work hard to further understand Guyana, but also to further demonstrate our own strength, better foreign aid work.
Finally, on behalf of all the members of the 9th Aid to Guyana Medical Team, I would like to wish the leadership of the hospital and all the staff of the hospital a happy Mid-Autumn Festival! The whole family will be happy!
