Stainless steel grade "304" (S30400) is the U.S. stainless steel standards (such as ASTM standards) in the name of the grade. In China's newly developed stainless steel grade standard GB/T20878-2007, the corresponding grade is 06Crl9Nil0 (old grade OCrl8Ni9). This grade is a typical grade of the famous 18-8 type Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel. Because of its excellent comprehensive performance, it is very widely used, and thus its production and consumption accounts for about 80% of the total austenitic stainless steel.

Excellent stainless corrosion resistance and good resistance to intergranular corrosion. For oxidizing acids, such as in the concentration ≤ 65% of the boiling temperature below the nitric acid, has a strong corrosion resistance. Alkali solutions and most organic and inorganic acids also have good corrosion resistance.
It has excellent hot and cold processing and molding properties. It can be processed to produce plates, tubes, wires, belts, and various products, and is suitable for manufacturing cold heading, deep punching, and deep drawing molding parts.
Low temperature performance is good. In -180 ℃ conditions, strength, elongation, section shrinkage are very good. Because there is no brittle transition temperature, often used at low temperatures. Has good welding performance. Can be welded by the usual welding methods, no heat treatment is required before and after welding.
